Jackie. Jackie was our waitress. My 3 friends and I walk in at 11:55am and after a couple minutes, Jackie seats us near the entrance of the diner. Jackie brings us water and takes our order. So far, so good. Then the waiting. 30 min. 45 min. An hour. Customers in a group of 3 who came 20 minutes after us - sitting literally behind - have already gotten their food. Jackie walks past us to serve them, doesn't say a word. Jackie avoids eye contact at all times. Ok, maybe the stuffed hash browns are taking a while. 1:00pm. We walk up to Jackie and ask her what's taking so long. Jackie never placed the order. Well. Jackie asks us to wait 5 minutes. We wait. 1:20pm. No word from Jackie. We have tickets for the Soudan mine tour at 1:30pm. We politely tell Jackie that we're leaving. Hungry. Going on a 1.5 hour tour. Jackie, at least say sorry?... Nope. Jackie never apologized. Jackie's response? "ok".
As a minority, the people of Minnesota have treated us very kindly. We were always welcomed with a warm 'hello' and had never felt any type of racism or outright cruelty till we met Jackie. If Jackie did not wish to serve us, Jackie could've told us immediately. We would have kept quiet and eaten elsewhere. Fine. Whatever. Tower is a small town of 500 and maybe we seemed intimidating. But to let a customer willing to pay and wait for their food, leave hungry and humiliated is a shame. I hope that after reading this review, Jackie treats all of her customers with the same respect and love we have given and received from the lovely state...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame in for breakfast and had an amazing experience. Service was as friendly and attentive as can be, and we were offered the newest Timberjay edition to read while we waited for our order. I am not a sweets person, but wow was the French toast special- stuffed with cream cheese, bacon and baked apples- with a salted caramel drizzle- so tasty! My husband had the Sasquatch Breakfast Burrito and loved it. Despite being stuffed, we had to try the raspberry bread pudding which more or less meant we were done eating for the rest of the day! Canāt wait to go back and try the biscuits and gravy and the cinnamon roll. Tower...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStopped for lunch today after spending time in Ely for a few days. I simply canāt say enough about the charming atmosphere, the exceptional service and the phenomenal food. Our group had the club sandwich, the quesadilla, the ham and Swiss, the French dip and the beet salad. Everyone loved what they had. Pictured is the club sandwich - the heirloom tomato and the aioli were the ācherries on topā of this yummy creation. What a gem for...
