I had been wanting to check out Boundless Adventures for a while now so when I saw they were advertising a Taylor Swift-themed night I decided to go with a friend. It turned out not to be the night of enchantment I was expecting based on the description of the event.
My friend and I had both zip lined once before, but we did not have any experience handling the equipment ourselves. We made this known yet the training tutorial provided at the beginning was really just a lot of equipment-related jargon thrown at us like we were supposed to immediately digest it. It was pretty obvious that we didnāt really know what we were doing yet when we went to start the first course, but there were not really any attentive staff members readily available to help us out. We had to seek someone out to ask for help which we were reluctant to do considering we were surrounded by children who seemed to have picked this up like it was nothing. We did eventually get the hang of it on our own, but the clips kept sticking, which resulted in us getting stuck attached to the stairway at the end of the first course and needing to call for help. The staff member who arrived told me that my equipment was basically faulty so I should go get a new harness at the shed. He told my friend hers was fine but then disappeared before ensuring that she was able to detach herself, and we proceeded to struggle for another five or ten minutes trying to get her detached. We eventually had to call once again for help. When we went to the shed to trade in our equipment, we explained that we lost a lot of time due to getting faulty equipment and asked if we could extend our allotted time to make up for it. I honestly donāt understand why this turned into 15 minutes of multiple staff members scratching their heads instead of just saying, āSure, no problem.ā By the time we finally got our new stickers with updated time blocks (which were really just our old stickers with a new time written on them with a Sharpie) we were over the whole thing but wanted to get our moneyās worth so we did another course that staff suggested to us. By this time it was dark and while that couldāve made for a cooler experience, the course we ended up on was shockingly poorly lit, to the point that we were using the flashlight on our iPhones to see what we were doing.
As far as this supposedly being a Taylor Swift-themed night, the music was really just background music, it was so low. And as we were getting harnessed, staff were talking within earshot about how they donāt like Taylor Swift. So the vibe was just not great from the beginning.
Overall the staff were friendly and technically knowledgeable, but also just kind of clueless about customer service which really emphasized how young they all were. It felt like there were no real adults around.
I wouldnāt be totally against giving this place one more chanceāparticularly if they have adult-only nightsābut my first experience there was unfortunately a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have never written a review before ā but the treatment that we received from the manager at Boundless Adventures (Lorrie) was so disrespectful and rude that I feel compelled to alert others to what you might face if you book a group outing to Boundless Adventures. We booked an outing as part of a birthday party for my son ā the weather the day of the outing was iffy but my son wanted to go and we were willing to deal with a little rain and wind if necessary. They called in the morning and said that they were closed for the day because of weather and therefore we had to cancel. While disappointed we accepted the decision and asked for a refund (given they cancelled). At that point the situation escalated as Lorrie got involved and gave multiple conflicting statements in increasingly loud terms about whether or not the facility would be open. We didnāt really care that much about the refund but rather wanted the option to go on the trip if possible. Over multiple phone calls the staff gave conflicting accounts on whether or not the facility would be open and ultimately we decided not to go. Since that time Lorrie has followed up with multiple emails to berate us about not coming and not providing information in advance (despite that fact that we were in near constant communication with the staff throughout the day). If you are thinking of booking a group event there I would not expect the management team to provide any support and if any issue comes up you should expect to be treated in a highly disrespectful manner (as you can see from other reviews).
UPDATED: the response from owner mischaracterizes the chain of events and more importantly doesn't address the tone and level of disrespect shown in communication (as i noted above I have had numerous adverse interactions in my life and have never been moved so much that I felt compelled to write a review). If you are thinking of booking a group outing and would like more details don't hesitate to reach out to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy children kind of enjoyed this place in the past, so when my friend invited us for a play date there, we happily agreed. We arrived around 4:05 pm counting to buy a 2 hour session until the park closes at 6pm. The place was empty and a bunch of young people who are employed there were doing absolutely nothing. Well, they were either napping or chatting to be precise. And yet, a young woman told us that we cannot play at the park because it is only open to reservations. Again, there were NO other customers that we saw. Yet, the ticket office was closed and we were not able to buy tickets online either. Perhaps because we had less than two hours left, I donāt know. However, we were willing to pay around $260 for our four children to enjoy the park less than two hours. And yet, we were turned away. The young woman who spoke to us was not even polite. I donāt think we will be coming back after such a treatment. So, just on my family alone this place will lose thousands because they donāt care accommodating paying customers within their hours of operation. We will go to a similar place in Bridgeport, CT, instead.
Edit: judging by the owner's response, he/she is just as unpleasant as an employee we encountered a couple of days ago. I reiterate again: we came to play WITHIN BUSINESS HOURS. Listed hours of operation of this place are 9am - 6pm. We arrived at 4:05pm and were turned away in a rude way. The owner should have apologized for this and/or took a note to do a better business instead of angrily attacking customers. We definitely will not be coming again.
Another edit: the owner edited her reply a lot and removed the angry parts to make it look appropriate after my rightful criticism. Luckily for my three children, similar place in Bridgeport is very accommodating and people are nice. I have never encountered such an unprofessional and rude behaviour as exhibited by Boundless Adventures...
