Awfully bad experience we had today at this museum with my kids. First of all, it’s super tiny museum, you’ll probably need 10 min the most to walk through 3 small rooms. Next, not friendly personal. The lady who worked there had to literally watch our every single step, and God Forbid we were too close standing to the exhibit then she would come over super frustrated and with a raised voice talk to my kids and I. Obviously this worker never had kids, because if she would we would probably realize that kids don’t understand that standing too close to the exhibit is prohibited. She actually even told us that if we touch any of the exhibits then we would have to pay for it. I mean, if this museum is that concerned about standing there too close then maybe they should invest into a separation chains that would not allow people to come and stand so close to those exhibits. I really felt that I need to write this review so other families with kids would avoid this place by all means. If you wish to be glared and stared by the personnel and talk to you in a very rude way then this...
Read moreThe Katonah Museum of Art while showcasing beautiful exhibits, is quite small. It’s a great find if you happen to already be in the area, but doesn’t have enough to warrant a full day’s visit. “Stories of Syria’s Textiles” was on display and some of the pieces were simply breathtaking. I would have appreciated more direction as to the order of what rooms to visit. Employees seemed cordial enough, but more engagement regarding the pieces would have been nice, especially given how small the museum is.
Overall, it was a nice local spot to experience, but I was left...
Read moreMy husband and two daughters went to the museum for a nice Sunday afternoon out and unfortunately we were only there for 10-15 minutes max because an employee literally kept staring at us (not even subtly) as we tried to enjoy the exhibits - We have never felt so uncomfortable in our lives it was horrible. We moved to one side and she moved also and just stood there staring as if we were going to steal something - I asked her if there was a reason she was staring and she said "they have to watch everybody" although there were others in the museum that weren't being watched - so instead of feeling uncomfortable, we left - the supervisor tried to offer complementary tickets to come back another time but I wouldn't want to risk that happening again and having my family feel so...
