Slightly embarrassed to say that I just visited the Brookhaven Ecology Site for the first time.. Having grown up on Long Island I’ve always loved the many parks and nature preserves that we have access to but last week they hosted a small conference here that attracted my family.. If you’re a non-resident there’s a $5 parking fee, which was more than worth it for us since we spent the whole day here, using the playground and strolling through the ecology center to check out the animals.. There’s a massive parking lot so even though it was crowded when we went, there was plenty of parking.. We brought our own food but there is fast food onsite, hotdogs, burgers, fries, etc.. The playground is clean and well maintained, and it was packed with kids all enjoying themselves and playing together really nicely.. The grounds are also very well kept and the staff here was pretty friendly.. All in all this is a really nice park and well worth a visit if you’re looking for a...

I really like the track and the exercise station I hope they don't close the park down I know there has been some issues with animal care but when I went I didn't see any animals that looked like they were uncared for, but if there were any issues I hope that they are resolved because it's important to keep the animals safe and well cared for. I didn't see any goats which I usually like to pet the goats if I go there I don't usually go through the animal section I usually just go to walk but there was nobody who wanted to be pet that day so I was a little bummed out. I don't know if the animals could use the more interactive enclosure, it would be nice if there were volunteers who can build something for some of the enclosures that the animals usually don't come out of during the day. But I could be wrong. I know some of them are on the older side so maybe they just want to hide during the day and come...

Cute place -- basically a farm zoo, petting zoo. It's horrible that they have a lynx and a bobcat in tiny display boxes! They should surrender these cats to a true sanctuary where they will be cared for properly and given the respect they deserve instead of being on display for screaming children. I have written to the Director of this place but (naturally) she ignored the letter and the follow up letter. The superintendent of highways who oversees this place thinks they are being well cared for 🙄 (hint: they aren't) and the regional DEC director is foolish enough to think that because they follow USDA rules that it's OK. Hint: the USDA gave a license to Joe Exotic and his cronies and we all see how that turned out!! SURRENDER THE LYNX AND THE BOBCAT!!!!!! STOP ALLOWING YOUR COLLECTIVE EGO TO GET IN THE WAY OF THESE ANIMALS HAVING A PEACEFUL...

Brookhaven Ecology Center. A town run park that has a small children's zoo and a walking/biking mile long track/loop. It's pretty small in terms of size and animals living here. They have paved stroller paths. Lots of shade. They have buffalo, goats, llamas, horses, mustang horse, cow, bear (which we could not see it correctly since it was sleeping just outside the shed). There were different kinds of birds were there. Hawks is big bird, two bald eagles are the huge mighty eagles sitting up on their area. Pay for parking unless you have a Town pass. They have section for free compost (free for the local).
