I tent camp here. I like the fact that they let you go find a site set up then pay. It's makes it better to take a look around and pick a good site. Park is laid out as a oval field road around it then the sites around on the outside of the oval road. And the sites are set back a little into the woods which I like. Then at night you walk out into the field and have a great look up into the stars. The site itself has a fire pit with a grill you can flip over and cook on it. Only downfall is handle to flip it over is metal and gets hot. Picnic table on the site is in good shape. Metal not too heavy to move. A lot of the sites have a trail to the next one so friends can get sites next to each other and walk.thru a trail to each other. Sites are secluded enough to enjoy privacy as opposed to Southaven where they are more open and not as many trees. Few trails around the park but many bicycle trails so you need to be careful of the people speeding thru the trails but I camp here several times a year from April thru October. And I will miss this place that I am moving out of state. I probably will come home to visit family and camp here because I find the one of the better Suffolk...
Read moreCampsite Prices have almost trippled starting jan 2025. Instead of $90 I paid in December 2024 it was like $280 in March for the week. April 1 summer rates kick in. Extra charge on weekends now even. For the amount charged you wpuld think the campground wpuld have wifi in winter especially since Verizon only works very occasionally and most people try and have verizon on long Island since long island cell service is about the worst in the country. No bathrooms in winter season and when they do open leaves alot to be desired for the $35 dollars a day about that green card holders will be paying. Sites are on top of each other like smith point only you are in the middle of nowhere over here. Before the renovation it was much easier to camp here. Hardly anyone was here and the low price made it worth it. At this point it's like paying Hilton prices for the motel 6. Not sure who was in charge of campground prices in suffolk county that suddenly put of the blue decided to...
Read moreThis campground is huge and beautiful and has lots of trees with a gigantic open field they have an bike trail for mountain bikes, a hiking trail, picnic area with a Boy Scout as well as RV area some of the tent sites are huge which is surrounded with trees and have lots of privacy (it’s beautiful I love it and have to say it’s my favorite camping park thus far) unlike smith point, we were bitten horrifically by mosquitoes (however S.P is unique in its own way... you have access to the beach which is a plus). Not all of the tent sites at Cathedral pines has water so that’s another thing to keep in mind and you can probably take a look around to a See which of the sites you/family might like. The bathrooms and showers are located in the middle of the campground which is surrounded by lights theres also a dish sink on the side to wash your dishes ect.... you can encounter friendly campers which is a plus. So what are you waiting for? It’s camping season let’s do...
