Friendly visitor center where ranger showed me how to get to the boardwalk trail and make an overall loop from the center to bay and return back via shore path. Scenery from boardwalk is very picturesque and I have thoroughly enjoyed this part of the hike. As I have moved from boardwalk to marsh part of the trail, things started to move quickly downhill with mosquitoes appearing out of nowhere in blazing sun with vengeance for incursion into their territory. I have immediately recalled Watch Hill campground walk attack by salt marsh mosquitoes in Fire Island and quickly got away to ocean side to finish off the loop. That’s the reason for one less star in my rating. Seriously, this kind of mosquitoes is worst I’ve ever seen, attacking as a swarm with kamikaze style in broad daylight… I’ve seen almost all maritime forests around Long Island and nothing comes close with Fire Island marshes in...
