Update: if a park ranger tells you to take things like hammocks or party balloons out of the trees, do it without argument. Its a state park rule that goes beyond this one park in particular. Not only does it look trashy but it also hurts the trees- which are living things
I love this park so be sure when you visit, you take with you what you brought in. This is a very clean park and we should keep it that way. Its a great place to take children but be sure they don't harass the wildlife; especially baby animals when they are in their nests. Respect the nature.
NO DOGS AROUND THE LAKE.... be ok with it and take your dog somewhere else if you don't want the risk of being asked to leave or, worse, a bicyclist or running runs over your dog. Some people are upset about the "no pets" around the lake thing but its really for safety. Plus, you're liable for damages done to your own dog if this happens because it goes against park rules.
Nice bathrooms. Clean fields. A little playground area for kids to play in field 2. The pool is awesome, my family goes every year since ours got taken down.
You can visit other free parks in the area but I'm ok with paying for parking, its only 10 for the day or you can get a pass for the season if you plan frequent visits. The reason I say this is because its not free so its also very well maintained and beautiful here. I've hiked other places that aren't maintained, are free, and they're trashed by dirty city people.
RESPECT OUR PARKS. RESPECT OUR NATURE. PICK UP...

The entire loop around the lake is about 3.5 miles, it is good for roller skates, biking , grilling , walking, jogging or just enjoying the scenery. Please keep in mind, No pets allowed and no swimming allowed in the lake. There is a large pool and water park area for kids and family to take a dip during summer time. Also, if you have your own kayak/canoe - the pass cost about $15-20 yearly for long fishing trips in this lake :) Enjoy and have fun.

Read moreI spent my Sunday at Rockland Lake State Park, and it was the perfect little escape from the busy city life. The best part is that it’s only about a 1.5-hour drive—close enough for a day trip, and even accessible by Uber if you don’t want to drive.
The park is such a great picnic spot with open green spaces and shaded areas to relax. There’s even a large swimming pool inside the park, which makes it extra family-friendly and fun during the warmer months.
What really stood out to me was the lake view. The water is peaceful and surrounded by lots of birds—swans, seagulls, and beautiful white geese wandering around the shore. It gave the whole place a very calming and refreshing vibe.
Another highlight is that the park has BBQ areas, so you can enjoy a cookout with friends or family while soaking in the natural surroundings. It feels like the perfect mix of nature, relaxation, and outdoor fun.
If you’re looking for a day trip getaway with nature, water views, and picnic vibes, Rockland Lake State Park is definitely worth visiting. I’d love to...
