i used to love this coaster. the problem itself isn’t the ride, it’s the workers and the fact that we aren’t allowed to leave our personal belongings on the other side of the coaster where they’ll be properly safe. i noticed others placing their phones, glasses, hats on the other side of the tracks so of course when it’s my turn i placed my phone on the other side so it wouldn’t fall out of my pocket on the ride. then when we’re all strapped in and ready to go a very rude worker comes to tell me i have to hold my phone or i need someone to hold it for me. i’m alone? so i politely ask the boy if he could hold my phone and he gives me horrible attitude telling me i need to get off the ride or hold my phone. i ended up having to give my belongings to a stranger in the line. (my wallet is attached to my phone so this person had my whole identity and credit card) A day later i had another bad encounter at the ride of steel. there was going to be a thunderstorm so the ride was closed which i totally understand but the problem was the staff again. they were standing at the gate, airpods in and my friend and i politely asked if they knew when the ride was going to be open and they replied with an eye roll and a shrug. not hard to just say no or give a smile. it’s really the bare minimum. over the past few years darien lake has really gone down hill and neither me, my friends, or family will be getting passes next season. usually we would buy passes solely for freight fest but now that only goes on for a week. not worth it. not to mention they don’t even have a ferris wheel anymore, the rides are old, not enough staff, overpriced food and merch and not enough actual polite...
Read moreA very underrated roller coaster, this Intamin Hyper Coaster (Their first one actually) packs a real punch. Many in the coaster enthusiast community may say that the layout is boring, especially pointing at the straight track, but I think it has a very good layout. The drop is really good in the back and that immediate left turn is so low to the ground and actually really forceful, that airtime hill has great floater airtime and you get a decent pull in the back. The first helix is actually really cool, turning pretty fast in a slight spiral is a cool experience, the straight track actually gives you a good sense of speed before being thrown into a very very strong ejector hill, then going into the last helix, again, much better than people think, Last there is a Non-Inverting Corkscrew and then some amazing ejector hills before the brakes. This is in my top 15 and I do honestly...
