I absolutely loved visiting this site and learning about Harriet. You'll learn a lot about this inspirational figure and how much she contributed to local and national history.
I try to visit as many NPS sites as possible and loved getting to visit one near my hometown. I was a little disappointed about the staffing situation and the ability to actually see the buildings on the grounds. Unlike most NPS sites, this one is owned and staffed by a local church group. As such, there was only a single person working the entire property. This meant the visitor's center was closed while tours took place and you could only enter the visitors center for the brief period of time between tours (plus theres only 2 tours offered daily). It would be nice to see this site recieve the full resources the NPS has to offer (such as a full staff of tour guides, visitors center crew, and groundsmen). That way the visitors center could be open long enough to read everything and get the most out of the experience. I find it odd that such an historically significant site had a single employee on site, limiting your ability to really navigate the grounds and learn everything there is to learn. I'd love to see Zion AME work with NPS to have a greater NPS...
Read morePaul's presentation of Harriet Tubman Davis's life was nothing short of extraordinary. By immersing himself in Tubman's world, he transported the audience into her remarkable journey, vividly bringing to life her experiences and struggles. His ability to change his voice and employ expressive body language effectively dramatized the story, making it feel like a live, immersive cinematic experience rather than a typical lecture.
The passion and depth Paul infused into his portrayal created a captivating atmosphere that held the audience's attention from beginning to end. Every moment of the presentation felt personal and immediate, as though the audience was not just learning about Tubman but walking alongside her through her trials and triumphs. It was an educational experience that left everyone not only informed but deeply moved.
In capturing the essence of Harriet Tubman-Davis, Paul highlighted her phenomenal strength and resilience with authenticity and respect. This presentation was a masterful blend of storytelling and performance, offering an enriching experience that surpassed even the most...
Read moreWow just freakin wow. US History Teach and Army veteran telling you if you haven't visited this place you are missing out. Our guide was extremely intelligent, a great story teller and did not hesitate to reveal the factual history of the time period as well as remind us how a lack of understanding has lead to where we are currently under this administration and how they are trying to keep the real history from so many. I cannot thank our guide enough (he is also an Army Veteran) and been on the property for 30 plus years. Seriously call and get an appointment and donate to this great historic site that reminds us there is always more to learn, why yhe past matters and how lack of knowing our past has landed us in this current time when many in power dont want these stories told. The current administration in DC is cutting funding to places like this so your donations and support are more important than ever. Power to all...
