My girlfriend has never been camping, or seen the fall foliage. So I figured this would be the perfect trip for us.
The owner Justin, his family, and his staff have a cool operation going on at North Star Farm.
Justin was super responsive and was able to adequately answer all my random questions before and during our stay.
We arrived around midnight on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, and were greeted with a FULL starry sky. Being from a New York City suburb, we have never witnessed that before, it was so cool. It was self check-in, so we were not disturbing anyone during our arrival. The dome was already heated when we walked in and gave off cozy vibes from the start.
We enjoyed the loft bed, it was a fun little nest to wake up in, and the blankets on the main floor were perfect for keeping us warm. (Note: To future guests staying in the colder months, I recommend pumping the heating unit on full while sleeping, it gets quite chilly at night).
Waking up the first morning was exciting since we were not able to see the farm too well on the way in. Opening the panoramic blinds was such a great surprise. There were views of hills in every direction covered in fall foliage.
The provided local tea, honey, and coffee were perfect for braving the brisk morning air to fully take in the views.
Ryan, the property manager, greeted us, and recommended us local spots to check out for more epic views. We followed up the sight-seeing by a making a quick trip to the sauna I had lit earlier in the morning. It was wood fired, as was the hot tub. Both amenities were ready to go in a little bit more than 90 minutes of heating. This was impressive given the chilly weather. (Note: the hot tub is empty upon arrival, but fills up very quickly)
After the sauna, we utilized the shower in the full bathroom provided in our dome. Then we went into the neighboring town of Oneonta which was about a 20 minute drive away, which also provided awesome foliage views. Here we enjoyed some lunch and gathered groceries for our stay.
The kitchenette in our dome had everything we needed to make a simple meal. It was two electric stove tops, a sink, and a mini fridge. A large cooler was provided for larger grocery storage. The windows can open and there is a door stop, which keeps the dome well ventilated while cooking. A Blackstone grill was also provided, but it was a little too windy for us to use during our stay.
My girlfriend really wanted to meet the sheep and Justin was happy to accommodate after shooting him a quick text message. He provided us treats to feed them. The animals were extra friendly and photogenic.
The calmness of the farm is something both of us needed for sure. We feel refreshed, even if it was only a brief two night stay. We are definitely looking to come back for blueberry season next year with more family and friends!
Truly 5/5, we both had a...

Every detail within the dome reflects care and intention, from the pristine cleanliness to the luxurious touches that elevate the entire experience. The amenities are exceptional: a serene sauna, a wood-fired hot tub, and panoramic views that shift with the light and weather, creating an ever-changing masterpiece.
From the moment I arrived, I was immersed in nature’s magic: mountain vistas that take your breath away, fresh blueberries picked at sunrise, clouds drifting so low they seemed within reach, and butterflies that seemed to guide my steps. It's rare to find a place that both grounds and elevates you—but this place does just that.
If you’re seeking a retreat where your soul is nourished, your senses awakened, and your comfort never compromised, this is it. It feels like a five-star resort wrapped in the quiet wonder of the wild. I consider myself lucky to have stayed here and am certain that this hidden gem won’t stay hidden for long. I can’t...
Read moreMy family and I had a wonderful “glamping” experience at North Star Farm. We stayed at the Bear dome for rest, strength, and inner reflection. It was very clean and tastefully decorated. The heart of the dome was thoughtfully designed with the bathroom, kitchenette, and two beds in the center. It was cozy and comfortable with simple yet plush furniture and linens. The circular open space encouraged togetherness and social connection. Since there was no wifi or tv, we played board games and chatted. There were some books that added to the simple decor and board games neatly tucked away in the beautiful built-ins. Outside of the dome, we enjoyed picking organic and delicious blueberries, a relaxing soak in the wood-fired barrel hot tub, and watching beautiful sunsets and star gazing on the private deck. Staying in the dome for a few days reminded us of the simple pleasures in life. We had everything we needed to relax, unplug, and return to a sense of mindfulness. The dome is the true definition of hygge (pronounced hoo-gah).
Thank you North Star Farm for a memorable experience. I highly recommend staying at North Star Farm. Can’t wait to go back when the leaves change color...
