Wantagh Park Dog Run — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

It is a very nice dog park. When we go early in the morning the people there are very nice and respectful with their dogs. When we have gone in the middle of a weekend. Some people are rude and shouldn't be going here. I have seen people drop their dog off in the park and walk away, I have seen people leave their garbage out for dogs to get into, and I have seen people let their dogs do their business and no one picks it up. If your dog is not friendly with other dogs, maybe you shouldn't bring them to a dog park.

I would love to come here more often but I would like to see more from the humans that are in the park, the dogs...

Best dog park on long island. Great turf. Excellent accountable owners. Great dogs. Only thing i would say is beware of novice owners who frequent this park on sat/sun afternoons on nice days. Otherwise truly Great experiences. They also have pools & hose to spray poop down. Poop bags are supplied. Small & large dog areas & it's down by water so cooler temps. You must have town of Hempstead driver license or pay...

Met a lot of friends here. Took my dog here for over a year. Park has a couple benches and tables. I would never sit in them cause dogs pee all over them 😂😂 Astroturf ground is the best!!! No mud!!! Large dog and small dog run. That being said, a dog park is a dog park. You will have irresponsible dog owners come in and you will have misbehaved dogs. The regulars are usually good but the weekend warriors are tough...
