Wantagh Park Pool Area — Local services in Town of Hempstead

I see people complaining they are rude to people with color, let me tell you- we are a white family- not from Long Island but from the city (can they tell by look!?- I don’t think so, but we pay high fees to enter to start with) yet they came upto me multiple times, to harass us, if my child is wearing a swim diaper- why wouldn’t she!? Than they had a problem with my 9 month old BABY’s bathing suit!!!!!!! Cannot even hold my phone outside near the pool, because I am “taking pictures”. And they truly have the rudest staff I have ever met in my life. I was thinking I am the only one bothered, went to complain to the manager if they had a rule book somwehere, but they don’t. I think the staff should be monitored, unless they think treating people like this is acceptable. They made my experience...

Overall this pool is well-kept but some of the lifeguards are tyrants.

My biggest concern is what I found on the upper floor of the concession pavilion. The metal bases of most of the columns are rusted and deteriorating. With rusty mental shards protruding. My daughter almost sliced her leg open on it. In addition, there’s at least 1 large light fixture dangling by a thread from the ceiling. One strong gust of wind and that things coming down on someone’s head!

Here’s an idea…instead of paying lifeguards to stand around harassing paying patrons, let’s divert some of that money to fixing these law suits...

It’s been three times we faced racism during our pool visit. The lady managers (there’s two we met so far) are racist and they instruct young lifeguards to attack people with color with rules they made in their dreams. I called Wantagh park to raise the issue. They listen to my complaints but no follow up. I have seen they were describing a brown couple that they have to wear certain swimsuits . They also asking two brown kids with proper swim pant to show inside the pocket. But there’s was lot of white residents with kids there with no swim suit or pants at all, they were not asking...
