This is a great camp ground for families also it’s inexpensive!! There is a picnic table there for you and a area for your fire needs....there’s enough room for you to park on site and have a tent or two the gravel isn’t the best so I’m glad we brought blowup mattresses...I only wish the sites weren’t soo close to each other it’s so close that you can hear everything others are doing all the time and they kept us up ... and then another site woke us up at 5:30 banging on metal for their tents idk wish it was more private. Loved the grounds to swim, boat or fish! It gets crowded... I wish there was also an area that was only for people who are staying at the campground so you are there with just the visitors for the daily lake that way it keeps you more immersed in the camping outdoor atmosphere and less feeling like a beach or Lake open to the public. The bathroom seems pretty clean and have a few areas for you to get water and clean up. I did however hear somebody else talking to the lifeguard about their bathroom in their camp area hadn’t been cleaned the whole week that they were there. I know that my family and I will return it was definitely a great time just had to get over how crowded it gets in the summer months. Thankfully it rained and loads of people left so we could enjoy the lake right after it stopped at sunset... we brought out...
Read moreBeautiful place, a true hidden gem. There is enough fun for a day trip at this place. They also have a campground facility if you want to camp out there. I am sure it will be a great experience, as this place is not crowded at all. The entry fee is $20 for normal cars for a day trip Big parking lots are available at South Lake and North Lakes. There are smaller parking lots near katterskill Falls Lakes - north and south - both are beautiful. Gravel is not that great. So, bring towels. Swimming is not allowed, but kids can play in water with toys (no tides). Lot of picnic tables on both lakes. Both lakes have kayak and boat rentals. Day long rental for a kayak is $20. Trails-moderate trails and great views on all trails. You will find a lot of birds and butterflies flowers on the trail. Eagles and falcons are also visible. Waterfall-gorgeous waterfall. Two step waterfall and falling from good height. Trail is hike down steps to both levels of waterfall. You can get to behind waterfall, and that gives a great view as well. BUT, be...
Read moreWe came here to hike only. Be aware if you bring a dog, bring its papers. Ours had a 2017 rabies tag on(not due again until September) and they wouldn’t let us in without the papers. They even asked if someone could take a pic of them and send them to our phone. Uhhhh, yeah. Anyway, we were going to do an easy hike since I was with my kids, but... we ended up parking at a lot outside the park and hiking to Inspiration Point. This was a moderate hike, about 3 miles. A fair amount was uphill. It was too challenging for my 5 and 9 year olds. Apparently Sunset Rock was also right there, and we somehow missed it. Disappointing. Overall,...
