My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in Maple Cottage. The place is so cute and has really great potential to be amazing. However, there was a lack of follow- through, mixed communication and overall unwilling to treat us like true guests. |The office was closed when we arrived, with directions to proceed to our cottage, which would be open with the key inside. That part was alright, but somewhat unsettling as we had questions, still had to pay and had hoped to be welcomed. |Once inside and settled, we attempted to get on our devices using the free wi-fi advertised on the website while booking. We had such a headache trying to connect, only to find nothing worked. There was a sign in the cottage with step by step instructions saying you did not need a password, but we were unable to connect. I called the office to inquire. I got an answering machine and left a message. No one bothered to return my call to help us. |The next morning we went up to the office, which was open this time. We walked in and were not greated at all. The woman at the desk just kind of looked at us, so I explained we were staying in Maple. There was no warm greeting or welcome. I asked again about the wi-fi situation, to which I was sternly told there was no wi-fi in the cottages. She told me she did get my message, but she made zero effort to return my call. Very rude. She seemed to blame covid and was full of excuses about how much things cost. Covid was 3 years ago now and in our minds shouldn't even have been used as an excuse. Needless to say we learned they had falsely advertised on their website and there is NO wi-fi in the cottage. |The website also boasts a free brunch from Oct 1- June. We never saw any food, and were not offered this. |The photos on the website are very deceiving making the cottages look larger and nicer than they are.|You are expected to gather your own garbage & strip the beds before checkout. |There is mixed communication everywhere! The website says one thing, the cottage has signs that say another, and the lady at the office said even different things from all that. It was very confusing. |There is a nice fireplace in Maple, and yes, there is wood, but no kindling to start a proper fire. There is a grill, but it's charcoal. Who wants to cook with that in today's day and age? |My husband and I were literally the only guests for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. We felt like they couldn't be bothered to make our stay pleasant or comfortable. There was this overall air of, shrugging the shoulders and saying 'oh well' from the staff. |Really cute place, lots of potential, but absolutely horrid customer service, especially when you're paying nearly $800 for 3 nights. Will...
Read moreWe were very disappointed with their winter services. We arrived in the afternoon at 3:15 and the office was already closed (they claim it doesn't close until 4pm). The next morning we went out, looking for breakfast (they claim there is complimentary breakfast each and every morning), and there was literally no one. No breakfast, no staff, no one in the office. In addition to breakfast we were hoping to get help with the internet that wasn't working (spoiler... we didn't. There was no internet the entire weekend) It had snowed the night before and no one came to plow the roadway the cabins are on until 2pm. So we were stuck. We did not get to do the hike we planned because of this - which was the entire purpose of our trip. And staff never arrived. Not even after 2pm when all of the roads were clear. Sunday was no different. There was no breakfast. A staff person actually did show up, but late. We discussed with them that we felt paying full price for the remainder of our deposit did not seem ethical. We were promised multiple services that were not available, let alone the danger we were placed in. What if there was an emergency? We had no way to leave, no cell service, no internet, and no one there. They made excuses for each of the issues and made us pay full price. I wish there was an option to leave zero stars.
*update: I received a call from management a day after this review and was given a...
Read morePLUSSES: The location is great, on the lake right by the village. The grounds are pleasant, with flower gardens, ducks, and a large rabbit hutch. There is a beach with canoes and kayaks. Our cabin (Hemlock) is on the water. Three walls of windows and a skylight in the wood paneled living room with the screened porch through sliding glass doors. Sturdy Adirondack chairs by the firepit with plenty of firewood (but no kindling). The two bedrooms are large with California king beds. MINUSES the kitchen and bathroom. The shower handle was a bit loose but otherwise the shower worked okay, enough hot water and pressure. The fill valve on the toilet did not shut off unless jiggled. The kitchen had an adequate fridge and stove but the dishes and pots were barely adequate. We got by but it was not fun to cook. Another minus was the vaunted "Adirondack brunch" was canceled without any concession in lieu of that. Other New York hotels we stayed at did serve breakfast so it would seem to be at the owner's discretion but the owner's explanation was that it was due to "the rules". Last minus is the information book for the hotels read like it was copied from a Summer camp for boys. Admonitions and warnings. SUMMATION we had a good time despite the...
