Short hike that almost anyone can do. I say almost anyone because there is a part of the trail that is a little steep and that may be a bit much for someone. Trail is a short half mile trail to the summit and the trail is marked, but could use a few new markers in place to help those that are visiting for the first time. Beautiful view from the summit of Fourth Lake and the surrounding ADK Mts. Large parking area for a lot of cars, which is good because it gets really busy. Earlier you go, the less...

If you're looking for a shorter hike but want a little more challenging hike than some of the short ones have to offer, this is it! Trail summit is .5miles to the top. Offers a great challenge but doesn't take hours and still has spectacular Adirondack Mt. views. If its been raining a lot, prepare for a muddy climb. Have done it in sneakers and hiking boots. Would definitely recommend a waterproof shoe if its been wet out and a good gripping shoe as there is tons of rock face...

While only .5 miles to the summit, when finished you'll be at an elevation of 2,225 feet! Beautiful scenic view overlooking a body of water. During the Fall, the mountains in the background are painted beautifully by an array of orange, yellow, and red foliage. It may be challenging for small children. It's a steep climb and descent so tread carefully. The breathtaking view at the summit is absolutely worth it. Sign the book at the trailhead for...

The NYSDEC does an excellent job marking and maintaining these trails. Rocky is a bit shorter with excellent views and black bear offers two approaches to the same summit. We have hiked these in the summer and the fall views are always excellent and well worth the work. There are some steep parts with many roots and rocks, these are mountians! Have fun and enjoy this great hike.

The parking is nice and open for this. We went on a rainy Friday so there weren't many people there. The hike was short, but had effectively turned into a stream/waterfall hike due to the rain. Watching the fog move over the forest and mountains from the peak was beautiful.
