Lamoreaux Landing had always been my most favorite winery since they opened years ago. They had delicious wine, great views, knowledgeable and accommodating staff, a very pleasant and hospitable atmosphere. It was always worth paying a bit more for the fine wines. I used to recommend Lamoreaux Landing to everyone going to the Finger Lakes. Never again! We were there yesterday and were told to wait for a tasting. We wandered around and sat uncomfortably for over 20 minutes. Finally, we were invited to join the crowded tasting bar or to wait for a few more minutes, we decided to wait . In the meantime, 3 people walked in, another staff came out and immediately set up a tasting for them as we still sat waiting. After a few more minutes we left. As we were walking out the door we heard the server at the tasting counter laughingly say something to the effect of "hey where are they going". A year or 2 earlier we had a very similar experience here- we waited an unusually long time for a tasting and were totally ignored. Would never recommend Lamoreaux Landing to anyone and will not ever stop in again! Fortunately, our next 2 stops at Boundary Breaks and CLR ( and our previous stop at Sheldrake) were very pleasant and we were able to buy many very good wines. Lamoreaux Landing is a beautiful winery but a major disappointment!
Shared our experience with Mr. Josh Wig. from Lamoreaux Landing. After considerable correspondence, we came to understand each other's respective. The winery was very busy that day and the tasting manager was relatively new in her position. Due to a breakdown in communications, the usual procedures were not followed. Josh is taking a look at policies and procedures, as well as doing some remedial training with employees to ensure that all visitors have enjoyable experiences. This is the very best I could hope for. A major problem with businesses over the last few years is that the people representing them either are not well trainedon how to interact with their public or do not care. That kind of service is increasing seen in restaurants and stores and can ruin fine businesses. Josh has very graciously invited us to visit Lamoreaux Landing again in the future if we wish . Knowing that we and all visitors will cosistently receive a warm welcome makes me very happy. I look forward to one of my most favorite...
Read moreMy wife and I have visited Lamoreaux since it's earliest days. At times they have produced some delightful Finger Lakes wines including nice FLW Chardonnays, hard to find good vintages in the region, along with some fine reds highlighted by the FLW region flagship red, Cabernet Franc.
However, during our recent visit, the first in several years, we noticed a change shortly after walking in the door. An air of haughty arrogance. We decided on 2 tasting at $12 each only after we were led to believe tasting would be free after we received our "welcome pour" of a nice dry rose and told "you can pick four more wines to taste without mention of the $12 per tasting fee. In there wine "menu" in very, very small letters at the top did it mention a few.
Some serious wineries in the Finger Lakes, Napa (region), Oregon, etc look to make a profit selling Tastings, and some use tastings to introduce you to their winery, wine making, and of course their wine. After asking our taste-pourer how am I to determine how good their wines were, especially six different Rieslings, she told me I Can buy the other five I did not taste. This was after coming from another Seneca Lake-FLW that has had their Rieslings rated by Wine Enthusiast Magazine in the top 100 in the world!
If you enjoy wine, the Finger Lakes has some delightful world class wineries anxious to introduce you to their fine highly rated wines, their story, winery and selection, but Lamoreaux is Not one of them, they will sell you a taste for $12 or more, and expect you to love, and buy their wines.
Don't waste your time, there are better wineries and wines just...
Read moreWe have been members of this winery for a few years. The wines are consistently very good. We have our favorites, including the Merlot and rose. We came up today from MA and went for our annual tasting. We always walk away with 2 cases of wine. We walked in today and were asked if we had a reservation. We did not and never gave it a second thought since Covid era is behind us and other wineries we visited did not require a reservation. We said we were members and told that they could not accommodate us. Meanwhile, we observed at least 10 outdoor tables that were empty which could have been offered but were not. Something is amiss when there is a a beautiful day, temperatures in the 70s, and 2 member were not offered outdoor seating, at the very least. Why have outdoor seating when they are not offered to overflow guests? We were so disappointed that the winery could not accommodate 2 of their members when space was clearly available on a beautiful day. It was a shame because it is our annual trip and we did not get our usual 2 cases of wine from one of our favorites wineries that we joined as members. We ended up giving our business to Red Newt, and Wagner where both experiences could not have been more pleasant and inviting and the wine was equally as impressive. As members, Lamoureaux needs to reconsider their protocols for members who are visitors. You are turning away not only members but others who may just stumble across a great find in a winery. We understood the need for reservations during COVID, but now it should back to business as usual especially when empty seating is...
