My grandmother gave me her engagement ring for my 12th birthday and it's always been one of my prized possessions. (When people ask you a hypothetical question like if you could run back into a fire and grab a physical object, what would it be? For me my answer has always been this ring.)
For years, it hasn't fit right (I'm not the same size at 43 that I was when I was 12) so I went in to get an estimate on a resize plus fixing the prongs. Several local friends recommended them and their reviews here are great.
The woman who took my info mentioned it might need another shank of gold for the resize which would be expensive but she said they'd find out for sure and I would know the amount beforehand and could decide from there.
When the quote came back on the resize, it did need more gold and while I couldn't afford that part, I agreed to the prong work and a rerounding of the ring (where they make the hole your finger goes into round again - my hand had gotten slammed in a door and the ring hadn't been round since.)
In short, a mistake was made (a miscommunication with a provider they work with sounds like) and the ring was resized anyway. I started to panic when they told me on the phone but the woman assured me that since it was 'their' mistake, they ONLY charged me for the prong work.
This is why you go to small businesses. They stand by their work and they do the right thing. They took the time to educate me throughout the process and I had planned to go back for the resize when I could afford it. I also felt safe leaving it with them as they took down very detailed contact info from me and communicated with me throughout the process.
My grandparents were married over 50 years and I know when my grandfather bought it for my grandmother, it was all he could afford. When I told the owner this, she complimented me on the shine and beauty of the diamond in it, which really touched me.
In short, lovely people, lovely jewelry, lovely service....

One of the two women helping me (come to find out works next door at the engraving place) said there was a ring missing began treating me like a suspect and was very disrespectful, even though I was about to spend about $10,000, and then when she found it, she didn't have any remorse and I got ZERO apologies not...

I can't recommend them enough! We will definitely be returning for our...
