I had to go there for a party. I arrived with $5, $10, and $20 bills on me to pay for Parking should it be required. There was no one at the front desk to make change. So I took the envelope with me so I could mail a check later when I got home to pay the $6 entrance fee.
While they did not have anyone on staff to take the money or make change, they did have someone spending a large amount of time driving around so they can ticket people who were not able to pay.
What should have been $6 cost me $12 because I was ticketed because they could not bother to stock the location with a park worker at the empty booth. In addition, they allow you to buy "annual" parking permits online, but I could not get reception at the location, and I only wanted a day pass.
The park should staff the pay booth, rather than have "enforcement" out after the fact to catch people that can't comply because the park is not properly staffed.
I don't think I have ever given such a bad review before, but I am made about this. If the payment for the park entrance is so important for the needs of the park STAFF THE OFFICE so people can pay. It is a jerk move on their part to make it hard for people to comply and then try to "bust them" for violating a thing that they wanted to comply. I was there to entertain for a party, so time was critical. I could not drive around for 30 minutes looking for change. I have put in large bills in the envelope in the past and included my address and have NEVER received a refund of the over amount.
The park was maybe $6 parking nice, but definitely not $12 parking nice. Save your guests money and take your events elsewhere.

Read moreHopefully they make an accessible kayak launch here after they removed the one easily accessible carry in launch area off county R, now one has to carry a kayak double or triple the distance with very steep inclining and declining hills from the the main entrance at the park. I am a patron of the Waukesha county park systems and this is 100% not safer. and one can just park on the other side of county R risking getting hit by a car dragging their kayak over the road to the blocked off entrance, that’s if they wanna break the rules which I assume some will do with kayaks or ice fishing gear come winter. Because it’s still easier than what they want you to do. Hopefully they also add clear signs here about fishing regulations, and keeping numbers, I don’t keep any fish only catch and release but in the winter feels like this little lake gets pounded, and too many fish are kept. Also the sign they put up at the county R entrance talks about protecting natural landscape hence the closure of this trail head, how is this little trail Any different than the others, and what about the acres of land used for the dog parks that dosn’t look very natural, clearly a agenda to keep kayakers off this lake, as the nearby grass lake at this park dosn’t allow any watercraft. Really sucks that one of the few lakes around this area that’s peaceful and not filled with jet skiers and wake boarders is now such a...
Read moreVery nice park. Dog friendly with two separate fenced dog areas - one for small breeds and one for large breeds. Nice bathrooms, picnic tables, and plenty of trails. Even a few benches and tables scattered about in the middle of nowhere to sit and enjoy the scenery. Trails are well maintained. FYI the trails marked with the dashed lines do not have a wide walk path - more a single file type of trail with plenty of roots, rocks and other trip hazards. The main trails they maintain with wood chips or similar and easy to walk. As it usually goes with being in the woods, you get your take of bugs, ticks included. Just bring some bug spray, check the kids afterwards,...
