I really wish there was a way to seperately rate this place. It's a two part story. Wine tasting:was outside. A lovely woman named Michelle gave us a FANTASTIC tasting. She was very attentive despite being busy and very professional. The view was beautiful and the wine was fun to taste. It was such a relaxing time.

The Bistro: We have eaten all over the world. Eaten at very humble places and eaten at very refined places. I have NEVER seen such a scary and unprofessional Bistro( which is a stretch) in my life. The words to describe this place: chaos, unprofessional, and no accountability. As we sat waiting for a simple chicken wrap, we could hear and see all the workers;chefs and servers alike, yelling, joking around, having loud intense personal conversations right next to us. Walking around with dirty rags. Not to mention when one of the chefs caught wind of our frustration, instead of coming out to adress the issue, he stood in the doorway staring at me and making faces. If this person reads this I want you to know youre a joke of a chef. The obvious lack of care for what was going on with the food in the kitchen made me concerned about the qaulity and handling of the food I ordered, which I ultimately didnt eat. When we brought this issue up, our server got us the "manager" who was a 20 something yr old girl who in her response to us showed zero accountability. She didn't really say sorry or ask what can we do to fix this but instead said "Sorry you feel that way." We spoke to the manager above her, Michelle again, who had a better response but Im not sure the message got across.

We are vacationers and so the fact that we wouldn't return doesnt matter. And honestly, that's the overall feel I'm leaving with. I would come here for wine and stay far away from their kitchen.

RESPONSE TO OWNER: Firstly, I was not yelling, your staff is lying to you.

Secondly, I give credit where credit is due. The wine tasting was lovely, which I started out with in the review.

Thirdly, despite how bad our Bistro experience was I left at least a 20% tip bc we didn't blame your server. Since you have the ability to check time stamps surely you can check that.

By the way, our initial complaint had little to do with wait time. Although, you and I know, stamped time has little to do with time of receipt of order and all to do when the server actually put it in. I read your reviews and there is another customer who was gas lighted by your establishment about wait time. EXACT same excuse.

And you're correct, age of the first manager really wasn't the issue. Her ATTITUDE was. Her immaturity certainly shined through with her response. Just so we are clear, our server before even calling her over warned us she was awful. I agree.

Employees having loud personal conversations right next to any patrons table is not ok. Regardless, if we were the only ones or not. Really great restaurants treat patrons the same regardless if the establishment is full or not. And as for the dirty rag, one of your chefs was walking around the dinning area with it and didn't wipe one table. Use it or put it away in front of customers.

You make a comment at the end of your response thats fairly insidious. I did not yell. I did not curse at your staff and remained seated during the exchange. Paid in full and tipped. You commenting that your staff felt unsafe is absolutely ridiculous and borderline slander. And if I was so threatening and unsafe to be aroud surely your competent manager would have called the police or at least request I leave the restaurant immediately. I'd imagine your restaurants might have cameras, and if you do, go take a look, bc that'll settle ANY accusations of threatening actions you claim came from me .

We visited MANY establishments at the Finger Lakes and yours one of the worst for us. We by in large had a wonderful time dining in your area just not with you.

Here's the thing. I really dont care bc like I said we were out of towners and won't be back. But boy did you show EVERYONE on Google how you handle...

i can’t say enough good things about thirsty owl – this place is truly one of my favorite spots ever! from the moment you arrive, you can feel how much they care about creating an amazing experience for every single guest. the atmosphere is gorgeous – right in the heart of wine country, with beautiful views and such a relaxing vibe. it’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon tasting wine, enjoying great food, and just soaking in the scenery.

let me start with the customer service, because honestly, that’s what makes this winery stand out from the rest. the staff here is beyond incredible – they’re not just friendly, they’re genuinely welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home! they made us feel comfortable asking questions, and you could tell they truly love what they do. braeden was also amazing – super personable and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed the entire time. it’s rare to find staff that make you feel like a friend instead of just a customer, but that’s exactly how tristin and braeden made us feel.

the wine itself is absolutely top-notch. thirsty owl has such a fantastic selection, from crisp whites to bold reds, and everything is crafted beautifully. every glass we tried was full of flavor and perfectly balanced – you can tell how much care goes into the winemaking process. whether you’re a seasoned wine lover or just starting to explore, they make the tasting experience fun and approachable. honestly, i walked away with a few bottles because i couldn’t resist taking some home!

now, the bistro deserves just as much praise. the food is out of this world! everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. it’s the perfect complement to the wines – every bite felt like it was thoughtfully paired to elevate the whole experience. whether you’re grabbing a light snack or a full meal, the quality is exceptional. the atmosphere in the bistro is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your meal after a tasting.

overall, thirsty owl is a must-visit destination. between the amazing wines, the incredible food, and the outstanding service, you honestly can’t go wrong. they go above and beyond to make sure your experience is memorable, and that’s what sets them apart. if you’re looking for a winery that combines high-quality wines, delicious food, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel truly valued, then thirsty owl should be at the top of your list. i can’t wait to come back – i’ll definitely be recommending this place to everyone i know!

10/10 doesn’t even cover it – thirsty owl is a gem, and i’m so glad...

I'll try and make this short and sweet (well short and sour if I'm being honest). My dad and I did the tasting at Thirsty Owl. You get 5 tastings of wine and to be fair there are some gems on the list.

Along with your tastings, you can also pay $1 for more select drinks (think ice wines, ports, and brandies). My dad and I each paid $1 and got a sample of their port. It was good. So good that we decided to pay another $1 for another tasting. The lady serving us had a cocky, cold air about her when she said we couldn't have another tasting of the port no matter how much we paid. Ok? That seemed a little odd to me. Nevertheless, another bartender came to us whom my dad and I paid $1 each for another tasting of the port. With a smile on her face, the lady served us the port and we were happy to have had one last tasting of the sweet, strong booze. When our original server saw that we had done this, she publicly-in front of the full lobby of patrons- chastised our second server, who, unsurprisingly, grew red in the face.

From there on out, my dad and I were watched like hawks and grew uncomfortable under the cold, cocky eye of our first server, who had then alerted her superiors to keep an eye on us.

remember that my dad and I were not acting belligerent, we simply just wanted another tasting of the port, which we gladly paid for

By this time it was 4:45 in the evening and the place closes at 5. When our first server had seen that we went "behind her back" and ordered more port (for more money out of our pockets) she cut us off from the rest of our 5 tastings that we had only had 3 of.

Moral of the story? Their wines are good but their attitudes and business-customer relations/respect is subpar at best.

My advice to them is if a customer is going to pay for a drink that they have outlined the price for, they should serve it to said customer. And also they should at least let the patrons finish off the tastings that they had originally paid for. Seems...

Perfect Sunday Lunch and Wine Tasting! We were a party of 4. We arrived around 2pm and the weather was beautiful, so we asked for a table in the terrace. While we waited (around 30min), we did the 5-wine tasting, which was outstanding!! Our sommelier was Michelle, and she was extremely nice, knowledgeable, charming, and Helpful. (More on this). From the whites, I chose the Dry Riesling (2023), the Appalachian Bottom Dweller Dry Riesling (2024), and the Gewürztraminer (2024). From the reds, I tried the Syrah and the Meritage (both 2023). They were all good, and my favorite was the Appalachian Bottom Dweller Dry Riesling. Our table was ready, so we went outside to the deck and had an amazing lunch. I had the turkey sandwich with fries, and it was perfect. I also tried the pasta, from my friend’s plate, which was really good (and the portions are huge!! Definitely big enough for 2 people)!! We had a bottle of Vidal Blanc. This wine is also amazing. (Gold Medal ā€˜25 Pacific Rim Int’l) Highly recommend!! After this amazing lunch, we were ready to go, but my rental car wouldn’t start. The battery was dead! I called the rental car (Budget) and they said they could send someone ā€œin about 2 hoursā€. But Michelle, our sommelier, saved my day by talking to dozens of people until she found someone (the owner of Thirsty Owl) who had jumper cables and was kind enough to jump-start my rental car!! Many Thanks Michelle and to Jon Cupp, the owner, for a perfect Sunday afternoon at Thirsty Owl!! Many thanks to other guy in a pick-up truck who also helped with the car until it started!! In summary, If you want to have a great wine tasting experience, and a great lunch experience, please come to this amazing winery!!šŸ‘šŸ™ I highly recommend Thirsty Owl Wine Company. I look forward to come back soon!

I’ve been to thirsty owl several times over the past years, but haven’t posted a review until now because I always thought I caught them on an off day. After visiting today and experiencing exactly the same treatment, I’ve concluded that’s just what thirsty owl is, so I decided to post a review. The wines are fine, but definitely nothing better than you’ll get at another local establishment with friendlier service (I strongly recommend Hosmer which is just a minute away on 89). The staff who greet customers and conduct tastings are consistently abrasive, rude, and condescending in my experience. The price may be lower for a tasting than at other local wineries, which is nice, but I do expect a level of decency and respect when I visit an establishment and unfortunately, thirsty owl has not even remotely begun to make me feel respected as a consumer when I visit. That said, the bistro is delicious (hence 2 stars), and the views are phenomenal. TLDR: the price is right and the food is good, but do not expect knowledgeable, respectful, or friendly service at the winery itself.
