Veterans Beach — Attraction in Town of Southold

Whatever you do DON'T be a minute late to use the restrooms. Nowhere does it give the times the restrooms are available, the only sign you see upon entry is for the beach closing at 5PM, you would think the restrooms would also be open until 5PM. We were leaving the beach around 3:45, went in to use the restrooms and while in there were rudely told by an employee that the restrooms were closed at 3:45. Because my wife was in the middle of changing the baby plus we had 3 other children in the process of changing we couldn't just get up and walk out. They finished as quickly as possible, when I went in I got this icy stare from this woman, I told her I would be quick (and I was), I said "thank you" and no response, just a VERY nasty look! Shame on you!!! Sometimes you have to give just a little and consider the circumstances. l was a Civil Servant too, for 27 years and one thing I learned is when dealing with the Public you always have to be a little flexible. And a sign with the hours would have nice too...I did give 3 stars because the beach...

Veterans Beach is a beautiful place to bring the family to enjoy the seaside views. Overlooking the Peconic Bay you can take in the breathtaking landscape. A perfect spot to rent the venue for any engagement from birthday parties to weddings they can accommodate you. The new facilities manager has taken this diamond in the rough and is bringing it to life. Meticulously caring for the grounds and buildings attending to every detail of upkeep and improvements of the property. There is something for everyone, local wildlife, playground for the children and sandy beach...

This is by far our favorite local playground. It has stuff for big kids as well as toddlers and it is enclosed. There is one small hole in the fence where my two year old escaped from, but if you keep an eye on them they will be fine. One downside is that you need a Mattituck sticker in order to park in the lot so if you don't have a sticker you have to park in the street and walk a little. Still, that's not bad in exchange for it...
