I stayed overnight at the campground one night during a road trip. We arrived late - well after dark and after the office had closed. Thankfully, they have a campground map online so we knew where we wanted to go for a site and thanks to Reserve America, we knew what was reserved and what was open for a walk-in. The sites are well marked - better than any campground Iâve visited. There are posts in between each site with the number and an arrow. So, Looking at the posts on either side of a site define that sight. (I added pics of the posts on either side of our site, 12). We stayed where sites were side by side with no separation or privacy - Iâm not sure if they are all that way. If we werenât just passing through, I would have wanted more privacy/separation from neighbors. The price cannot be beat. I think the price also explains the stripped-down facilities. They seem to like to stay on top of making sure site arrangement stays the way itâs supposed to. The office mentioned they drive around and keep everything in place. Each site has a large bear locker and there are sets of school-locker style ones by the bathrooms. Those have the ability to put a lock on if you have one. Given that near lockers are provided, was surprised at the lack of near/critter-proof garbage cans throughout the campground. There arenât any garbage cans at all. You have to use the front dumpster. The stone buildings (office and bathrooms) are beautiful and fit right in with the natural setting. There are large sinks available for washing dishes. The bathroom was clean (not spotless, but thatâs difficult to do in a setting like this). Shower temp and pressure was good. The womenâs bathroom and shower could have been more user-friendly. I canât say if all bathroom buildings are the same. We stayed right across from one on site w012. There isnât a ledge by the sink to set things on. The shower doesnât have any ledges or trays to set toiletries on. The shower curtain covers only the shower and the bench is outside the shower. If youâre the only one in there itâs no problem. I would have been very uncomfortable if I wasnât alone.
Note: I visited mid-September on a Wednesday night. It was quiet because there was nearly no one there. So, I canât comment on other reviews stating...
Read moreHorrible experience at the camp site, the rangers where super rude and We felt discriminated because they kept bothering us all the time for minor things that other campers were also doing but they only kept going to our tent, a minor thing we did: when first arrived, We were eating dinner with our family and had a small light on the table, this around 9:45 pm and a ranger came over to us and with bad attitude told us to turn that light off because he said it was almost 10pm, But everyone around it had lights on their tents all next to our site but he didnât go to any other site to bother them but only to our site. I saw that but I didnât want to argue because my family was there first time visiting and i was trying to avoid it. But the next day rangers did it again in the morning, Our kids were playing with a small airpool on the grass and a ranger told us with a super rude attitude hat this was not permitted here and told me to get rid of that and my little 1 year old kid started to cry, i don't see a big deal for a large site place to bother you for a 3x2 feet air pool that does not make senses. Even our children were traumatized for such a bad experience, that the rangers came over and over to bother again and again, and one of my family member started to argue with a ranger at the end when he felt that we were not being treated equally and ranger screamed to him and even sounded racist, my kids got so scared of the rangers behavior and not even want to go to a normal park now, My daughter feels that there could be these bad rangers with green uniforms in the park. I share all this to people that want to go to enjoy a family reunion, this is not the place for you if you are color skin, I felt discriminated. I wish I've never...
Read moreIve been camping for 22+ years my whole life basically. This year there is toxic algae in Lake Welch so you cant go in the water and sand. B, C, D, E, F+ does have Raccoons and bears, if you see a bear or bears/Raccons call the Rangers and/or Police, Raccoons will steal your food drinks or whatever mostly at night so its highly recommended to put most of the food, coolers, cans inside your vehicle and make sure its locked. Most of the time people are friendly even staff, but sometimes hear and found out that sometimes that doesnt happen. Their's a Camp store, they sell wood, mugs/cups, clothes, + First Aid Kits, whistles, candy, flashlights etc. Their is a Ranger station when you come in on the left and Reception is on the right and their is dumpsters near reception where you put garbage, Recycle, propane tanks. A section did get a new shower head for the bigger shower. If you go camping for days id say the neccesities are clothers for hot, warm, cold weather, bright flashlighted, tent(s), a gazebo, some lights to see the platform at night, towels(beach towels too), own soap/deoderant, their is another beach called Tioratio but is smaller with 2 Lifeguard towers but you cant bring coolers food/beverages onto the beach; parking is $10 but their is free parking elsewhere i believe, they have showers/restrooms and vending machines. A id say mostly has Raccoons, Any questions/concerns pls ask. I believe animals are allowed like service animals but call the site for any information...
