Have a problem with all the bees around the pavilion and volleyball pit. They have a sign by the volleyball pit that says there is a problem with sand bees STAY OUT! Why has that problem not been dealt with? UPDATE I have been in touch with the CFJ parks dept. they assure me the bee problem has been addressed. They had to treat for them 3 times! I have not yet returned to the park but plan to soon to see for myself! Another update…2024 It’s been a year since the bee problem. I see the sand volleyball area has AGAIN been retreated and since removed and planted with grass. Thank goodness! HOWEVER there IS still a bee problem there, however they aren’t the sand bees. They are what I call garbage bees. They’re very prevalent around the splash park and pavilion. Spoke with a carousel attendant and she thought there might be a hive as she had noticed many people swatting them away. Got so bad my friend and I avoided walking past the splash park and pavilion by circling the carousel several times. Touched base with the CFJ parks dept again and they claim there IS NO PROBLEM. Why is it there were SO many people swatting them away if there is no problem? Saw a fellow trying to change the garbage bags swatting them away too. CFJ parks dept said there’s no more bees there than other parks. Just walked at Otsiningo instead and saw NOT ONE BEE! It’ll be a while before we go...
Read moreBest Park in the area. Multiple pavilions, play ground, sprinkler water park, bathrooms, large fields (for sports or play), and a carousel! I've hosted and gone to multiple events here. Best option in the area for an outdoor birthday party for kids. I would suggest reserving a pavillion for events though, which is easily done through the Town of Union by submitting a Property Use Request form and.submit it to Johnson City Parks Dept. (243 Main Street Johnson City, NY 13790) with your fee. A fee of $40 for residents and $65 for non-residents, $35 for non-profit events. The area is popular, so if you absolutely need the pavillion, reserve ahead of time, especially for weekend events. The pavilions all have charcoal grills for use as well. Also, conveniently next to Walmart (incase you forget anything or need some last minute supplies!) This park is great for events, or just a nice day out. Would...
