A great place for a short hike. The trails here are populated you will see one or two people on your travels sometimes you'll see a whole class out there. The bridge that crossesvthe marsh is a great vantage point for all sorts of Wildlife. Some beavers live here and you see their handiwork on some of the chiseled down trees... As well as their big beaver hut in the middle of the lake. If you go past the Pavilion on the Eastern side where the marsh Trail lets out you can go down some stairs and you're greeted with a giant Hill which is great for training for things like obstacle course races. the incline is rather steep and when you get to the top it connects to a trail that you can follow all the way down.
Dogs must be on a leash there are Foresters that will get on your case and for good reason... There are a ton of deer in this park and your dog may run off for miles and never find their way back or they might bother some of the other people on the trail. Your chance of seeing deer in the Nature Preserve is a near 100%.
There's a place where you can park near the mouth of where the marsh Trail lets out to the street... And there is a nice big trail map. Google Maps has a rather accurate map as well. Have fun out there and check...
Read moreAbsolutely loved it. Thanks to my younger brother who chose this nature trail over a movie. I couldn't be happier that we made this choice. It was a cloudy day on May 16th, and the weather was perfect. The nature was stunning and each trail pathway had something different to offer. It was a nostalgic moment from my grad school back from Johnson City, Tennessee. The oak trail ended with a stunning nature that reminded me of the woods from one of the Lord of the Rings movies (please do not think I am exaggerating, this is my personal experience đ). The pond trail was okay more muddy with the morning rain that day. We got to experience beautiful wildlife: a deer at the beginning of the trail, lots of chipmunks and squirrels, beautiful green frogs, couple snakes in the swamp, some small fishes, and a beautiful and more stunning landing and take off from a couple of Canadian goose. We didn't go expecting to see this wildlife, it just happened and we mostly kept our phone away (except when...
Read moreI love this place . I have been coming here since the early 1970's. Many, many trails to discover and hike on. One can do an easy 1 mile flat hike from the parking area along the main lakes, across the bridge and back on the other side. Or one can go on hikes dor 2, 3, 4 miles.. beautiful scenery.. beaver hones, beaver dams, wildlife from baby geese, deer, eagles, hawks frogs, turtles and even more. Peaceful and tranquil.. I hike here around 50 times a year. There is a large map placed at the beginning of the trails at parking lot M. Take a photo of it so you can change your hike as you go if you wish. All trails are well traveled and well marked as well as color coded. One can't get lost. Every season is beautiful.. I hike all 12 months here. Just go. You will love it and return for 50 years...
