Wildflower heaven. We were on the PCT, heading south toward Tinkers Knob, doing roving trail magic. I have hiked this trail numerous times and it never fails to delight my senses--sight, sound, smell, touch . . . just a wonder walking through the forest to Roller Pass (check out Donner Party information) then up to the ridge with views of Donner Lake, local ski area, and eventually Lake Tahoe. You are walking the ridge with 360 degree views for miles and I simply love it. There's the Benson hut to visit, take a break if you want. We passed over 45 PCT through hikers and shared our fresh fruit and starburst candies as well as cold drinks in a cooler at the trailhead.
