For fifteen years I have collected and shared wind chimes, yard decorations, pet memory markers, holiday ornaments, magnets, plant stakes, a beautiful fireplace screen that has found its way into my motherâs garden and custom door and furniture hardware Lisa so willingly collaborated with me to accent our home. These keepsakes-owned and gifted-have brought so much joy to myself and others. Recently, I had a disappointing experience. On October 28th, I went into the shop to order some custom pieces for Thanksgiving and Christmas; items that when I asked, were said to be completed in two weeks. I paid for the order in full at their request. Two weeks passed and when I didnât hear from anyone at GD, I called to check on the order. I was told they needed to order materials for my design and they had just received the metal. They said it would be another week before the piece would be complete, which would still be in time for Thanksgiving. Another week and a half passed and Thanksgiving arrived; I didnât hear anything from GD. After Thanksgiving, I received an email from a GD employee verifying sizes for the piece that was promised before the holiday. I promptly replied and was told my order would be filled the following week. The following week came and went and I heard nothing from GD. Monday following, I called again and was told my pieces were almost done and I could expect a call from GD in two days when my order would be ready. Another week went by, no communication from GD. This morning, Thursday Dec. 17th, I called yet again and was told my order was almost done. I told the employee with respect, I didnât believe her. I had heard this promise before and it wasnât kept. She explained GD had been very busy during Thanksgiving and Christmas and I reminded her that my order was placed on a October 28th. She apologized and said it was 100% GDâs fault. I told her I heard her apology but still didnât understand why my order was delayed and why, not once during the seven week period, did a GD employee reach out and say they were going to miss said delivery dates. I asked about their normal process for customer notification and who was responsible for reaching out. She said one of three people where charged with that task, but offered no explanation why I had to chase them regarding filling the order. She asked me what she could do about the situation and I said I wasnât sure, felt frustrated, and wanted to speak to the owner. She said she would pass on the message. I thanked her for her help and we wished each other Merry Christmas. A few hours later I got a call saying my order was ready. I thought some more about what was discussed on the first call and told her I was still confused about the delay and asked her some follow up questions. After hearing the feedback, I said I felt the lack of communication and seven week delay was unacceptable to me. She said it was unacceptable too. She also said she didnât think there was anything she could do to satisfy me. I asked to please have the owner call me. The owner called a few hours later, and I explained my confusion. Penny told me she had handled the issue internally. When I asked about why no one let me know about the delays, she said that theyâre barely staying alive. A pregnant employee went on maternity leave and did I have any idea how hard it was to find good help. She said her employees are stellar and when I replied I didnât feel the communication and execution on this order was stellar, she told me there wasnât anything she could do to satisfy me; all I wanted to do was gripe-and this for a $450 order. I explained I wasnât griping, I was trying to figure out how, going forward, if I placed another order it would be delivered on the date promised or I would be notified. Penny said that me telling her employee my experience was unacceptable was belittling her and the truth was, the way I spoke to her employee was unacceptable. And I wouldnât need to worry about shopping at GD going forward, since she was going to refund my $450 and send me on...
Read moreTime to up date my Garden Deva 5 star rating. Since I first wrote my review, I have ordered several new items as well a purchased several in person when we were in Tulsa in January. My latest order is the American Flag which "flies" on our deck, off the living room. My flamingo is on the roof which is our deck and can be seen for from many different directions. But my favorite is the salute to Ukraine (the picture is the last one below). I have it were I see it everyday.
Living in Denver doesn't allow me to take the Iron Work classes offered by Garden Deva, but I would love to.
Ordering is always easy and the shipping is quick once, the item ordered, is made.
Thanks Garden Deva for all my fun items.
Time My first piece from Garden Deva was 2001. I purchased it at Philbrook Museum of Arts, Festival of Trees. It is a young girl with her arms up. It represents my granddaughter. Three years later, I got a small Christmas tree with a young boy in front, representing my grandson. I have several Christmas ornaments. More recently, I have 2 reindeer, one large white and one darling red smaller female. Halloween is very fun on my back deck with the spooky hands, witches, pumpkins etc. I ordered, and love my Peppermint Christmas tree. The new Koala is on top of my lattes waiting the summer flowers.
Five years ago, several friends and I gave a personalized shower present to some very close friends. They owned everything they could need, making the trellis a very unique and appreciated gift.
As I live in Denver, most all of my pieces have been shipped with no problem.
I often wish I could take the Saturday classes.
I love, and always have loved...
Read moreGarden Deva is a oasis of delight in Tulsa. In these COVID-19 days, online shopping is very easy, but nothing beats browsing in the store. You will find whimsical designs and objects for all seasons and subjects. Over the years, Garden Deva has become my first go-to stop for gifts, large and small; practical and just for fun. Want to try and make your own sculpture? I had a great time taking their workshop and learning how to cut metal and solder. I like my creations, but will happily go back to being a consumer of the cool and crazy products from Garden Deva's imagination. I look forward to the return of Open Studio events and Seasonal celebrations. Please support your local small businesses, now more than ever. ...
