River Parks unlawfully restricts comments on the River Parks Facebook page. When confronted with the offensive, pseudo-scientific nature of a message its staff posted, River Parks deleted its post from the official River Parks page, yet restricted public comments by the person who lawfully petitioned the government agency for redress of a grievance.
River Parks then refused to comply with a request under the Oklahoma Open Records Act to provide a list of people the pubic agency has blocked from commenting on official River Parks Facebook posts. River Parks untruthfully claimed it has no record of people the government agency has blocked from commenting on its official Facebook page.
The offensive River Parks Facebook post quoted an author who claimed people age because they stop running. The reply cited the death of a distance runner who died at the age of 58 while running. The deceased runner had been prominently featured in a book by an author whose pseudo-scientific claim River Parks quoted.
Update: During a follow-up correspondence with RPA, I learned that more than 70 people had been blocked from RPA social media. The director stated staff had been instructed to restore access for everyone who was blocked but had not done so when I contacted him several weeks later. He provided me the list of blocked users per my public records request and renewed his effort to revert staff decisions to block users from commenting. My survey after that follow-up suggested access had been restored for those people. He did not dispute my assertion that government agencies cannot lawfully block members of the public from commenting on their social media. I asserted ad hoc policies to limit participation in public forums on social media are not content neutral and comprise prior restraint of media contrary to the...
Read moreMan, oh man. I genuinely can't get enough of this place. I've been coming down every day that I possibly can just to get more time in on the track. As of today, bit by bit; parking lot to parking lot, my fiance and I have officially skated all the way from the cell tower past the blue rose cafe all the way down to the bridge past the bear statue on 71st. What a fantastic place to skate. I need to find out how long the entire track is. I have yet to see either end of it; just the 5-6 ish miles mentioned previously. Seriously guys, you've done a fantastic job with this place. 10/10 would recommend in a heartbeat to anyone and everyone. Walk, run, skate, bike, rollerblade, I don't care but before you die come do whatever it is you do, but do it here. There are nice little parks and other cool things including a little workout spot. If you have yet to come down, you're...
Read moreI love Riverside Park it's my favorite place to come visit, I enjoy the nature, the wildlife, and the people walking their dogs. I love watching everyone having a smile on their face, everyone so friendly and I love watching everyone play at the basketball courts, skate parks and having picnics in the park I plan on continue coming here but near the skate parks and where the bikes and scooters are parked have someone mow the grass and weeds please, I've been seeing a lot of snakes this year and a water moccasins recently. I want to feel safe on my walks here, and I don't want anyone getting the chance to get bitten if they come across a snake. Some people won't know what to do if they see one. Please get that fixed...
