TGS is an amazing glassblowing studio. It has a wealth of tools and equipment that not all studios come with. If you are starting glassblowing, they have everything you need. If you are an experienced glassblower, and you want to do an ambitious project, they have everything you need. Everyone on staff is experienced, kind, helpful, and you can tell they actually want to be there. You can book an employee to teach you or assist you when you book studio time, and they are all fantastic. They really strive to help you level up your abilities every time you work together. And chances are very high that someone on staff knows how to do any technique you want to learn. I took a week long summer class with a visiting artist and it was amazing. I would love to do it again. I did not expect to find such a nice studio in Oklahoma, but TGS is better than some famous studios I have visited. The studio is also in a large public park so the parking is free...
Read moreThank you! Thank you! Thank you! We took our group of 3rd through 5th Graders to your Amazing Studio and they did a super fun project that aligned perfectly with our curriculum! That being said, a Thunderstorm the night before caused a power outage so unfortunately the furnaces were not at the correct temperature! They immediately went into action and came up with a Mosaic Project that our Student's Absolutely Loved. They also got to draw a Mural on the floor as well as had an opportunity to watch one of your Artist's manipulate tube glass into a caterpillar! They all had a wonderful time as well as some teaching moments were easily recalled. Thank you again for your dedication, love of being Artists, and sharing with our Student's! I as well as many of my colleagues will definitely be back! Lenny Hope Creative Director...
Read moreThis is a great alternative activity. It's hot so dress for the heat. It's not as hands on as a painting or cooking class so don't expect full access to your project (ours was a flower), which is why my 3 stars vs. 5. After being there and experiencing glass blowing, I can see why the novice would not be allowed full access. The glass is kept in a super hot oven and the blown glass requires expertise to shape, color and form and also requires extreme temperatures. So think of having a pre-schooler help boil eggs, that's about as hands on as it gets. These guys know what they are doing and can help make the experience interesting. I'm glad we did it, but will likely find something different for the next...
