Really short hike, less than 1 mile
Go to heart stone nearby too
Lots of places to take photos and lovely wide views all around.
Definitely worth the drive for those Instagram pictures and fresh air. Bit chilly and windy when I went so if you go bring a thicker jacket.
The path is smoothed out and easy to walk. No trouble to finding the locations because there are arrows pointing to each location. You can't miss the spots.
Enjoy a casual walk. Distance into the park is about 20 to 23 miles into the joshua tree national park entrance.
On the way you will see skull rock , multiple over night camp locations, and 2 or 3 bathroom locations.
The parking lot doesn't have any bathrooms, some of the rocks may have some left over tissue or ... Be careful where you step when you go off the trail.
Going into the park costs are posted at the entrance If you have someone over 62 get the unlimited senior citizens pass to ALL NATIONAL PARKS FOR $80, ITS A ONE TIME PAYMENT
If you have a current or veteran friend/family it's free for them. Enjoy the short...
Read moreArch Rock Nature Trail is the perfect blend of accessible and adventurous. The trail is an easy loop—about 1.2 miles—and leads you through a surreal landscape of massive boulders, desert flora, and of course, the iconic Arch Rock itself. The arch is even more impressive in person and makes for a great photo op. You can scramble around nearby rocks for even better views.
I went early in the morning and had the place almost to myself—highly recommend going around sunrise for the best lighting and to beat the crowds. There’s not much shade, so bring water and sun protection. Parking is limited near the Twin Tanks/White Tank Campground, so plan ahead.
A must-see stop in Joshua Tree if you want a shorter hike with big scenery. Perfect for families, photographers, or anyone looking to explore the park’s unique rock formations. Can’t wait to go back at night for...
Read moreAwesome mind boggling sight to see humongous sized boulders piled together. Boulders are a medium course sand composition that provides grippy surface for climbing. The walk from the parking lot is easy. The last section necessary to access and see the Arch Rock formation is of medium difficulty if you're in decent physical condition. Older Elementary age children likely need to be strong and agile. Some areas require a squeeze through. Much of the last leg to access and see the Arch Rock face on requires climbing. Doable with flip flops which I wore. Shoes are much safer for mounting up onto rounded boulders. A 24mm lens on a full frame 36mm camera can capture the Arch Rock. A panorama of three horizontal widths with the 24 mm lens is impressive. If walking in the August 100+°F heat, a nice broad rim hat and sunglasses help. Bring and drink...
