I had a horrible experience here today. Four of us arrived here today at the advice of a wine taster from another tasting earlier in the day. We showed up around 430 and proceeded to the counter. I looked at the tasting menu for the day and noticed the $15 charge and politely asked the server if the tasting fee was waved if we purchased. I was told no it wasn't. My parents decided they were going to split the tasting. My girlfriend and I contemplated whether or not we wanted to taste or not and whether we should split a tasting. The server in the meantime decided to pour two glasses of a white wine and said it was complimentary whether or not we decided to taste. My girlfriend and I opted to not taste so my parents each took the two glasses of white wine to themselves. My girlfriend and I proceeded to get water and explore the grounds. In the meantime my parents were seated outside for the Pinot flight tasting. We found our way over and seated ourselves with them as they tasted as we were curious what they thought. That maybe we would come on a different day. It was at that time that my parents informed me that the server told them, while my girlfriend and I were exploring the grounds, that he wouldn't have served me even if we would have decided to taste. If that was the case then why did he pour us a complimentary glass of white when were deciding to taste or not. That was a comment he should've kept to himself if he felt that way. He had no right to make that comment behind my back to my parents and insult me. It made me feel so small and immature. I made a responsible conscious decision to not taste and it should've been left at that. Nothing more needed to be said. And if he felt the need to say anything at all he should've said something to me personally. There is so much good wine to try, but unfortunately I won't be returning...
Read moreAlthough it was a beautiful day, the tall women with black hair and bangs (let’s call her Karen) is condescending and clueless. After a tasting I wanted to buy a bottle. It’s good but $88 a bottle is kinda steep. The champagne was on the price list for $42. So I asked for one of those. The guy helping me went inside to get it and “Karen” yells of that’s not right. They both come out and tell me it’s a typo on the price sheet. She then noticed all 100 in the stack of price sheets are wrong. She then says “Thank you for pointing it out”, as if I was aware their prices were understated and was trying to pull something. She refused to sell the champagne to me for $42 and offered a 10% discount on the $70 new price. That’s called “Bait and Switch”. The wine down the road is 1/4 the cost and they don’t treat you poorly. Goldeneye is more like a Poke-in-the-eye. They are...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for years to check this box on my wine visit list and it didn’t disappoint! The tasting room is impeccable and our host, Dia, was awesome. All of the Duckhorn properties get an A+ and really know how to take care of their members when it comes to the tasting experience. It’s disappointing that the only discount on purchases requires a case. Although the Goldeneye portfolio is exquisite, you pay for it. Their single vineyard wines are a minimum of 20% higher than other Anderson Valley wines of comparable quality. Still giving 5 stars. Go...
