This is a lovely open space park right along the waterfront with paved walking paths and a dog park. It doesn’t look like anything else I’ve been to in the area in terms of park experiences. We visited in the middle of a major heat wave and really lamented the fact that there was ZERO shade from trees. There were really no trees at all anywhere which is highly unusual in this area. My children really enjoyed the active train traffic passing by and underneath a viewing bridge. The bathrooms were clean and easily accessible with propped open doors. The dog park looked clean and many people were enjoying it with their pets. The waterfront beach is rocky but kids enjoyed splashing in the cold saltwater. My children especially enjoyed flipping over rocks and finding crabs underneath. Watch out for jellyfish! There were many signs in the parking lot warning that it’s a high theft area which was concerning to us as we were traveling with all of our electronics (headphones, iPads, iPhones etc). We packed the important things into a backpack that we kept with us the entire time and had zero issues. I think the whole experience would have been more enjoyable if proper security was implemented in the parking lot and more shade options...
Read moreChambers Bay Golf Course and the Chambers Creek Region is located in University Place, Washington State. It's a great place to golf, walk and take in views of the Puget Sound, the Narrows Bridges and the Olympic Mountain Range. We even get seasonal glimpses of our local and transient orca pods traveling through.
The Chambers Bay Bar and grill, which is situated at the top of the golf course offers a beautiful view from their outdoor deck where you can sit a spell, have a glass of wine, cocktails and a bite to eat from their small, yet delightful menu.
My most recent experience is our new concert lineup down in the meadow of the golf course on the Chambers Creek side. We saw Spin Doctors and Smash Mouth live and it surely gave us a different feel of this beautiful property that brings us so much peace and joy. The sunset over the Sound and the Olympics was stunning! We can't wait for the next concert! Tacoma Arts Live, you did a great job and we look forward to seeing the evolution of this...
Read moreMy family and I spent the day at the park, in celebration of my birthday. The choice was made because of my day, coincided with the Pierce County Kite festival, and who doesn't like to fly a kite on a beautiful day, at a beautiful park? Although the wind did not cooperate so much, the day was gorgeous and the event was friendly and fun. The park is huge, with great proximity to the water, making special and unparalleled views. I have been to the park before on walking exercises with friends, and had almost forgotten its beauty and natural charm! If it were closer to Fed Way, I would be a daily visitor. Great for families, friends, walkers and anyone who enjoys the beauty of the...
