The Gravity Vault - Upper Saddle River, NJ — Attraction in Upper Saddle River

The place itself is actually good for climbing. Climbing walls are good for different level of climber kids. The staff is helpful and friendly. However they lost 3 stars because of inconvenience of reserving this place for a student group. Here are the reasons; They have an online waiver form which you can send the links to the parents of the students that you’re taking with you. Parents fill out the waiver but they don’t receive any confirmation email. As a chaperone or organizer you don’t receive any confirmation either. So I was not able to track whose parent filled out the waiver and whose not! Second problem, when we get there they were not able to confirm most of the students’ waivers although their parents filled out for them. I made sure they chose the correct location but still their waivers didn’t show up in the system. We had to fill out waivers for most of the students again at the location. We spend half of our climbing time with filling out the waivers. We couldn’t have extended climbing time due to this technical problem because there would be another group right after our time. Although they have a terrible online system for waivers they don’t have a traditional paper form or we were not offered! My advice to the place for a better system; please improve your waiver submission method. Make sure parents receive a confirmation email or code. And trip organizer should receive another confirmation also so they can check whether everyone filled out or not!

We were there in December for a bday party and I decided to take my 5 year old with her good friend today. I have to say the place besides being clean and well equipped, the instructor we had was the highlight of the session. His name is Jacob and he is just simply AMAZING. I have a shy daughter that gets scared easily, and she was able to complete 6 full walls. He knew how to engage with her, talk to her, was kind and honestly cared about her facing her fear, and did everything to get her there. You don’t find many people like this nowadays that truly have a passion for what they do and care about who they are teaching. I am definitely coming back and asking for him to be her instructor. It was an amazing experience. Just a side note if you want to just go as a walk in it is recommended to call ahead so they can plan for the instructor if needed for your kids. Amazing experience! I just had a party today for my girl. I picked 2nd option which included pizza, drinks and decoration. But, the experience was not pleasant. First of all, I was NOT told that a waiver will be needed for each kid in advance. The information had to be provided in advance. Also, when I made a reservation, I was told that balloons will be decorated in the party room and one sample of balloons was shown to me. However, there was NO balloons. There were only a table cloth, and plates on the table. The worst part was the assistant did not give a pizza to a kid when the kid asked to have the 3rd slice because the package included two slices per a kid. WARNING - They JUST ordered 2 x number of kids. Some kids had only one slice, so there were two slices left over at the end.
