room 213. warning reader, this is long.
Very very angry. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived. i had to call the main line to get to someone who popped out of the back.
She seemed friendly enough. My friends and I got our keys and went to our rooms on the second floor. The beds were comfortable but had an unclean feeling. Like there was sand or crumbs in the bed sheets.
There was a kitchen but no paper towels. There were two beds but only one bar of soap. There was one small garbage can for the entire room in the kitchen cabinets. no hair dryer. we had to ask for a coffee pot.
all that aside, here is why I am furious.
After we had left, one of my friends noticed his social security card and id went missing. he was the only one to vacate the room besides me. His fiancee stayed the duration in the room. We drove all over NJ retracing our steps with no success. Turned my car inside out. Checked our pockets. Emptied all our bags out.We all recalled the identification was in the plastic slip of a mint condition spider man comic that he had on him.
We called 3 hours after checkout and were informed they would look through the room for us. We called twice. They did not.
annoyed, we drove back only to be told they checked twice. Nothing was found. They refused to let us examine the room even though house keeping hadn't reached the room yet. We even said if it was a liability issue, we would gladly be chaperoned with a security detail or staff. They refused.
We left mortified. Eventually, I decided to rent the same room. I called the hotel. The front desk transferred me to reservations. They told me there are 4 rooms available. The quote was over 100 dollars. I declined and called the front desk. We explained the situation again and asked to reserve the same room.
She replied she checked the room twice and the hotel is all booked. After reviewing my findings with my previous call, a room magically appeared... I asked to reserve the same room. She said I had to call reservations. I asked if I could do a walk in reservation. She said yes and I rushed over there from 7 miles out. A couple only just finished booking before me...
i ended up booking the same room for about 110 after taxes and fees and asked to have the room left as it is. She said house keeping already cleaned the room. We looked everywhere. Nothing was found. There was an empty cup under the bed and empty tissue box in the bathroom. Clearly housekeeping did a swift run of the room. We talked to housekeeping, anyone we could find.
This entire experience has left us seriously questioning the hotel and humanity. My friends have hit rock bottom, have no place to live, one of them is an army veteran and those were the only documentation as natural born US american citizens that they had on them. Now I have to worry whats going to...
Read moreThis review is a little late but I had lost the business card with the name of the manager that literally saved me. To make a long story, less long I had been out on a date that ended up back to the other persons room at a hotel near Secaucus. After being given something that was obviously spiked and it not totally working as the other person had intended (I guess I wasn’t given enough). I resisted and because I wasn’t “giving it up” I was basically kicked out of the room, left at my vehicle, sicker than I had ever been in a manner and situation I had never been in before. After waiting at my car for almost two hours I felt strong enough to drive (and sure that I was done throwing up). I reserved a room at the Extended Stay America on Rt. 17 in Ramsey. My only problem was check-in was at 3 and it was only about 9:00 in the morning. I called over to the hotel and got General Manager Robert Bikofsky on the phone. I explained what was going on and I honestly was ashamed and afraid that early check in or not hearing what had happened to me would make them cancel my room. But he told me just breathe, focus on getting here and we’ll go from there. No judgement whatsoever. So I get there and he’s waiting and from how I looked he had to have known it was me who had called. He said your rooms all ready handed me my keys and I actually felt safe again. It’s the strangest feeling as a gay man that something like this happened to me on a date with another man. I’m not a little guy either, but to be incapacitated via a chemical or whatever was used takes away any chance of putting up a fight, it created holes in my memory of the evening that are still coming back. To not have that control in what could have been a much worse situation, is scary. Robert and the rest of the staff at Extended Stay America, Ramsey, NJ took a shaken, confused man and made him feel safe and secure and just a little less alone. Robert checked on me before he left for the evening, now I pretty much slept for about 12 hours straight, I ended up booking a 2nd night because after those 12 hours, I finally started to feel like myself again and stopped shaking because I was so cold (and it was a warm May weekend). I also need to mention, the cleanliness of this room was beyond compare. I’m 6’3” and can see on top of a lot of things that usually go untouched, and everything was spotless even in the common areas. So go on over and see Robert and the crew, you’ll be very...
Read moreThe beds were comfortable but everything else about this hotel was terrible. The lobby, hallway and room were dark, dingy and gloomy. The online description shows a family of two adults and a child sitting at the in room table enjoying a freshly prepared meal in the room---FALSE ADVERTISING---our room had no dinnerware, no cookware, no utensils and only one chair. The online description says free high speed internet---FALSE ADVERTISING---standard internet is free but faster and fastest are not free. The online description claims free breakfast---FALSE ADVERTISING---free breakfast is only if all you want is coffee and a candy bar. Eggs, waffles, dry cereals, juices, milk, fruits, bagels, toast, milk, muffins, danishes, cream cheese, jelly, etc. ARE NOT AVAILABLE. They did have instant oatmeal packs but no bowls to put them in or utensils to eat it. When I asked for a bowl and spoon the front desk clerk told me he did not have any. There are no ice machines only empty ice trays in the room frig. The bathroom exhaust fan did nothing but make a lot of noise--little if any shower steam was cleared from the room. The entrance door to the room was VERY difficult to open. I complained to the front desk but nothing was done to correct the situation. When I made my reservation I specifically asked if there was an elevator. I was told yes but when we arrived they gave me a 2nd floor room and told me that the elevator had just failed---BS---a sign posted on the 2nd floor elevator door stated that the elevators were being serviced starting Sept 22 (3 weeks) before our check in. No attempt was made to no notify us by phone, email or text. My wife and I are in our late 70's and are not well suited to carting heavy luggage upstairs--the hotel offer no help. ||After the first of three days when our room was not serviced I asked the front desk why---they told me they only service the rooms weekly---no new sheets, towels, toiletries or room cleaning for a week. How is a family supposed to get buy on the small shampoo and soap in the bathroom? Re security: the entrance door to the stairs leading to our room has a key operated lock BUT repeatedly someone kept putting a rock in the doorway. The hotel staff did nothing to address this situation. AVOID THIS HOTEL...
