This place is great. Playground for small children is phenomenal with all sorts of different equipment. Als6very safety oriented. We walk our dogs there every day and have met lots of friendly folks, dog walkers and runners. Place is very clean and they make it easy to keep it that way because they have plenty of waste receptacles and even have dispensers with disposable doggie waste bags. There is feeling of community there if you visit often enough. I feel safe there even when it gets dark because they have lights We don't belong to the Recreation gym/indoor pool. It is a bit expensive esp for non township residents and folks on a fixed income. Overall I say it is 5 stars. They are building a new picnic shelter next to the playground. They also have very clean restrooms. But I do they need to I stall bathrooms in the old shelter which was once a part of the old Mayview hospital . When it is hot outside you can walk in plenty of shade up a paved tree lined walkway if you up on the far left of the park entrance to...
Read moreTrails are lovely, but trailheads are not well marked. I've been three times now to hike with my dog and each time it is a struggle to locate the trail you want to take, even if you're parked right next to it. One trail is only marked once you start on an adjacent trailhead, and the perimeter trail isn't even on the map. So the maps are not well executed, but the trails themselves are clear and you won't get lost once you get started. But I've yet to experience crowding or even more than a couple people here and there, but that is only during the pandemic, can't say for regular times. I am disappointed to read another reviewer mention off leash dogs, that's something I'm always wary of when hiking with my own dog, it's just so rude and entitled to do that when it's not a dog park and can cause such problems for others. It's also such a rich nature area, loose dogs will scare off wildlife and birds. Keep your...
Read moreThe kids playground at this park is really awesome, and has a ton of things to keep kids engaged. The whole area has that nice padded flooring too, so there's very little need to worry about kids falling and getting abrasions. Also, when it's hot out, there are two areas with misters that can be turned on with a button, which is great. There are a few benches scattered around the edges of the playground, but they fill up pretty quick.
What might be the best part though, is the electronic activity right near the entrance. I don't really know what it's called, but there's basically a bunch of pressure sensors with LED lights on poles in a circle, and a control panel to select various games. Each game is basically a variant of "hit the correct light", but they are a great way to get some physical activity, especially for kids who prefer video games to playing...
