This hike explains how the White River National Forest got its name. There was a nice water cascade / fall right out of the parking lot and there was a great view of the falls the other direction across I 70. The bottom section of the trail was pretty lush and up higher there were more waterfalls as you entered the alpine valley.

Am amazing hike. We have done it in the summer and the winter. The hardest part of the hike is right out of the parking lot! The hike alternates between steep grades and easy meadows. The lake itself is stunning. Bring a fishing pole if you have a CO licsence, rumor has it there are some hungry cut throat trout in there.

Well it's mid April and the snow is still deep, about 45 minutes in... Decided to sit my butt down and enjoy the God-given moment alone in this beautiful spot...

Very enjoyable trail. Easier on knees during the ascent than Deluge Lake. It is definitely worth the effort as the views at the top are absolutely stunning. There is trout at the lake, both alive and dead. There are less yellow jacket nests than on the Booth Lake trail as well as the other trails around Vail. I saw a grey snake slither across the rocks when picking wild raspberries at the scree. The trail was not that busy on a Saturday but still busy enough to prevent any significant wildlife sightings. Wild blueberries, raspberries...
