The beach itself is nice. I gave ONE STAR to the Sarasota Sheriff's Department for their Fourth of July parking management. We were supposed to meet our friends who came from Pensacola. When we arrived at 11 a.m., the parking lots were closed and sheriffs were turning cars around, forcing drivers to circle until a parking space became available. After the third lap, I asked permission to drop off my wife, the sheriffs allowed it, but before that they sent us on one more lap. On the time when I dropped off my wife, they let the car that was behind us into the parking lot, and they sent me to drive further in a circle. Walking through the parking lot, my wife saw several free parking spaces. Approaching the supervisor, she asked if her husband could take one of the free parking spaces? A dialogue followed. The supervisor asks his subordinate: “Do you know who this is?” - "No." And to my wife: “There are no free parking spaces, let him drive some more.” I rode in circles until 3:30. During this time, I saw how cars in front of me and behind me were allowed to enter... By the time I got to the beach, I only had one hour left to meet with my friends. I think, the city authorities could organize the line better what could help to avoid a lot of frustrations. And now we are very angry and upset, and we want to express our "GRATITUDE!" to Sarasota Sheriff Department for ruining...
Read moreI took my step dad who is in a nursing home in Sarasota out to the Jetties with my daughter and we spent the day out there with him we have a story in our family about the Jetties. My grandmother used to take my stepdad and my other uncles out there all the time they've grown up in the Sarasota area and as kids they took us out there as well. And if an upon request of two of my uncles and my grandmother their ashes were spread out there. And my stepdad has cancer and we don't know how much longer he has in at his request he's asked that his ashes be spread there as well so this beach means a lot to us. Not only did my grandmother uncles and stepdad play on this beach when they were children now my grandchildren play on this beach so there's a lot of family history on this beach. I would however like to know how to get a bench with their last names in memory of. I do not know who to contact and concerns with that but if someone could get back with me that...
