This is the only dog beach we have been to in the area but we have been to many others along Florida's coast for some comparison.
It's easy to find the parking lot where there are showers and restrooms. The entrance to the dog beach is via a medium sized fenced dog park next to the parking lot and then a 50 yard walk along a fenced concrete path to the beach's entrance.
We visited a few days after a hurricane so there was a lot of organic debris washed ashore which gave the dogs extra treasures to sniff out and pee on. The "sand" on this beach is course and abrasive to the skin. It can get compacted into dog's paws and is a pain to rinse off as it is made of tiny small smooth disk. There is a 2-3 foot drop off into the water and trying to climb in and out over that can get uncomfortable after a while. Larger dogs (40lbs+) can easily navigate it but is may be challenging for smaller dogs.
The beach is sandwiched between two other public beaches and is about 150 yards long. It wasn't too busy when we visited with about 100 people. As with all dog beaches, there are irresponsible pet owners who allow their dogs to harass others.
Overall, it's a nice beach for active dogs and we will certainly visit again if we are...
Read moreSouth Brohard Beach Paw Park: A Paws-itively Great Time for Dogs! South Brohard Beach Paw Park is an absolute gem and a great place to have fun with your dog! It's wonderful to have a dedicated beach where dogs can run, play, and swim freely in the ocean. Our dog had an incredible time, and it was clear that all the other pups there were enjoying themselves just as much. The atmosphere is lively and joyful, with happy barks and wagging tails everywhere you look.
The only minor drawback we encountered was that parking is a little difficult. It can fill up quickly, especially on busy days, so you might need a bit of patience to find a spot.
But besides that, the place is great! The beach itself is clean, spacious, and provides ample room for dogs to stretch their legs and splash in the waves. It's a fantastic resource for dog owners looking to give their pets some off-leash beach time.
Despite the small parking challenge, the sheer joy and freedom our dog experienced made it entirely worthwhile. We highly recommend South Brohard Beach Paw Park for a fantastic day out with your...

Google maps indicated a nearby RV parking lot that looked like the entrance to the park... and that was wrong! Once we found a place to park the RV, there weren't clear signs on how to get to the dog area. We entered through Sharkys (the only nearby restaurant with tons of outdoor seating and they don't allow dogs!!!)... And we were yelled at for having a dog on their beach (which is directly next to the dog beach)... Once we found the dog area, it's just an open beach. Not fenced in (which is great). The sand is very hot and coarse. We only stayed for a few minutes and left. Our dog didn't like the sand so much. She kept trying to find shade and just lay down.
Plenty of dogs were having fun in the water and plenty were hot and just looking for shade. So I guess it just depends on your dog. Lots of people brought chairs, blankets, umbrellas,...
