Fossil Discovery Trail — Attraction in Vernal

This 1.2 mile trail, one-way, can be accessed from either the visitor center or the Quarry Exhibit Hall. When we visited in September it was pretty hot, so we choose to ride the shuttle up the hill to the Quarry Exhibit Hall and then hiked downhill back to the visitor center. The hike offers the opportunity to see a few large pieces of dinosaur bones in their natural state, just as the original explorers found them....

Short hike well worth skipping the shuttle back to the visitor center. The trail is all down hill and can be as short as .7 miles if you skip the side trails. But why skip the side trips? That’s where most of the interesting stuff is. Adding the side trips turns the total distance to about 1.2 miles. If the day is hot bring water...
