I live in Great Gorge and have come here 3 times now, although I've gotten plenty of massages before. The very first massage I booked was 100 minute aromatherapy. I work in Manhattan and had a lunch interview that I was extremely nervous for the next day. I scheduled the massage for 7pm so I could sleep easily after.
The masseuse I got was the biggest chatter box. I can tell you what her daughter does for a living, they live together, she's younger than me, her daughter also works in the city, she got divorced 20 years ago, got screwed on selling a vacation property... I can actually go on with more details.. I didn't entertain it much and eventually went silent. I had to politely say that I was ready to rest now. But then the massage was actually over. It wasn't a bad massage per say, just couldn't not relax and was mentally drained before leaving. It was like emotional labor, most people hate their ex-husband but I paid to come here and sleep on this table pretty much. I paid $300ish plus tip to leave feeling like that.
Second massage I got was EXCELLENT. It was an 80 minute CBD massage with Yasenia. This is what I know a massage to be, I was sinking into the table and able to clear my mind. At one point, she did some reflex stuff on my feet and I felt my body respond. I went into a deep meditative state. Wow, I can't wait to come back to elements!
Third massage was yesterday. It was an 80 minute Therapeutic massage. I booked this after getting my nails done the days prior where I ended up doing a 10 minute chair massages in the salon. I was like wow that's awesome, I'm going to book a proper massage for this weekend. When I came in to Elements yesterday for my massage, the therapist primarily used her forearms, elbows, or fist. Barely an hand work. I've never had anyone rub their forearm and other elbow up and down my back in general, and this went on for the entire time I was on my stomach. Eventually, realizing she was not going to switch it up, I asked her to stop using her elbow as this felt more deep tissue and I wanted to relax. I was squirming due to being a bit tickled and this was kind of hurting my bones. It was like bone to bone rubbing. She said no problem I won't do it again. She then used her forearm to massage my forearms, my shins, legs, and a fist to massage the soles of my feet. Unbelievable. With a $40 tip, this was $300ish as well. I'm done being polite, I will start walking out within the first 10-15 minutes if unsatisfied moving forward.
I've spent around $600+ on unsatisfactory massages here in the last say, 3 months or so. The only great one was with Yasenia. When I left elements yesterday, I made sure to book her very next availability. I am NEVER blindly booking on the website again. I am also never going to let them finish a massage when I do not like it again. I knew within the first 10 minutes that my massage yesterday was not going to be good but I did not want to offend. Now when I sit back in my chair today, it hurts. Her elbows and forearms were not therapeutic and I can't believe my body feels bruised.
Before I even make it to the desk and set my stuff down, she said "how would you like to tip" now I work in sales, my family owns a 100 year old business, and I understand working. Let me come, set my stuff down to check out, ask me how it was. It becomes offensive when overtime, tips are feeling forced. I tipped her $40 although I feel she did not deserve it. They offer blowouts but you cannot book it online and when inquiring at the desk, they don't know the schedule of the girls who do it. So I couldn't pick a day.
Overall, I love that I live 2 minutes from this place. But I will only be booking Yasenia moving forward otherwise it is a total waste of money. I would love to also get my blowouts here as it would be easier for me, but I'll probably have to keep getting them in the city before or after work as Elements does not know the blowout schedule. Not a bad place, just some expensive disappointing...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I enjoyed the services at Elements. The staff was nice and accommodating, and the spa itself is tranquil and well kept despite being pretty small. I enjoyed the Mud treatment the best, and the foot soak behind the beaded curtain was a bonus. However, the locker room was extremely small with barely any space in the lockers themselves. You’re given robe and slippers without them taking note of what size you are for anything, and both were quite small. When I called to book for my birthday, I was under the impression that this was a full service spa, meaning that it was a facility that also had saunas, steam rooms, more than one pool, cold plunge and a hot tubs. While she didn’t lie, all of the additional things are part of the hotel overall, not the actual spa. I was hoping for more of a Sojo vibe, but instead paid an additional $35 to be at an indoor pool with a bunch of children who were in attendance to a dance competition. I feel like the Crystal Springs website is a bit misleading, as they advertise “daycation” packages with images of women enjoying themselves at the spa and pools, but once you get your service, you’re integrated with whoever is staying at the hotel. The pool felt filmy, and the hot tub had pocket lint floating around inside of it. The fish tank looked dirty, and there’s only one sauna and one steam room, not multiple like I thought it would be. Again, I’m thinking that Elements is an entire spa facility onto itself, adjacent to but separate from the hotel. I drove from NYC, as did my friends, to celebrate my birthday and it simply wasn’t what I imagined. With that being said, I think Elements is great if you’re already staying at the hotel or nearby for an event, but it’s not something you make an entire day out of, especially if you’re not from the area. I thought having a spa day on the resort would be great because I also booked dinner at Springs Bistro, but again, not what I expected. The resort is in a beautiful location but it’s pretty dated overall. I’m leaving this review just so people know exactly what to expect before they make the...
Read moreI am very disappointed with my services from earlier today. I don’t usually leave bad reviews but the experience was extremely disappointing and underwhelming. I had a 50 minute therapeutic massage booked and the lady at the front desk gave me a paper with some add on services. I was told to tell my therapist which services and they would work with me. I wanted deep tissue. When i told the therapist she basically told me no and that hot stones “would be better for me” I’m not sure if she wasn’t qualified to do deep tissue or if she just didn’t want to but i get body work done pretty often. to have someone tell me that the hot stones is better then deep tissue was my first red flag. I expressed my shoulders and over all back need a lot of pressure and the lady rubbed stones on my shoulders, barely touched the rest of my back, and just rubbed oil on me for not even the full 50 minutes. Absolutely no pressure what so ever. She also kept stopping in the middle of it to either wash her hands or prep the stones. In my experience with body work, you pay for 50 minutes, you get 50 minutes of contact. a giant waste of time and the $200 service plus the $40 tip that i don’t even know why i gave. If you can’t provide the additional services for clients then why even bother handing them the sheet. I will not...
