For someone learning how to snowboard, going on a holiday weekend is not recommended. It's extremely crowded and many people have low regard for taking turns and personal space. Many children are unsupervised so they are just roaming in the practice area crossing people who are in their paths.
The large crowds make it longer to get your boots, helmets and skis/boards so give yourself 30min - hour before your snow access time to get everything in order.
Our trainer from the Go package essentially abandoned us because we weren't learning fast enough. This was about 15 minutes into the lesson. At least we learned what foot to put in the snowboard first and how to scoot around the practice area.
The saving grace is having access to the lounge (which is limited and an extra $100) because if not, you would be fighting for a place to sit in what seemed like a gigantic field trip. Breakfast was simple and lunch was nice. I wish there was something other than champagne and cookies after 430 pm for the price that was paid. Maybe just soup options for when it's darker and colder outside?
The lounge team was great. Everyone was helpful and kind.
The website has no FAQs so you will need to call to know what you should bring if you're inexperienced.
Overall, if you're new and are able to go during a school day to avoid large family crowds, that might be the best bet to save money on not needing lounge access. Go with a personal trainer (if needed) instead of the Go access pass with the entry-level trainer if you have any more than basic knowledge. It's not...
Read moreLines are reasonably very long on the mountain because of precautions for corona where you ride with whoever you come with on the lift. The trails that would bring you from one side to the other were closed so once you were on a side/run you had to stay there or drive when you wanted to switch. On the south side of the mountain there were three workers enforcing masks and doing a good job of it however on the north side no employee was enforcing people to wear masks whatsoever on the line with no social distancing in place. Also on the south side there is only one waffle maker and if you buy from this specific truck the wait is going to be 20 minutes, that’s unbelievable for a 5 dollar waffle. In the end I enjoyed my day...
Read moreMountain is good according to my intermediate snowboarding son, but food is very basic and expensive. Lodge is not anything to write home about very very plain, tables and not even great chairs, would not want to spend more than a half an hour there. Ambiance is nothing to speak of inside. Outside the patio is okay, they picnic tables on a patio where you can watch the snowboarders and skiers. Sometimes the outdoor bar is open. Bring your own food you'll be happier. Have a second patio outside of a restaurant but never tried it.
Vernon Lodge is much better and cozier but food is the same very basic and expensive. The Vernon Lodge is much bigger and even has a fire pit outside. The slopes are much more crowded...
