They sell thousands of items that cost under $5. But they refuse to sell you those items by themselves unless you pay with cash. It's 2025 and I was told that I had to purchase another item to bring my total over $5 or I could not pay with my card. So that means they lost a customer at that moment because I did not have cash on me and I wasn't buying something I didn't need. Most stores that have this stupid policy of a minimum purchase to use a card also will allow you to make a purchase under the minimum and they'll just charge you 15 or 20 cents to cover their credit card fee. That's a ridiculous way of doing it also but it seems to be accepted and I would have lived with that. But the employee behind the counter told me either buy a soda or come back with cash. So for a $2 purchase that would cost them cents to process they turn me away instead of just asking me to pay that processing fee love $0.10. also why not just raise the price of some items by one penny to cover the credit card fees instead of negatively affecting your customers and turning them away? Horribly bad business and it seems to be usually the older more senior business owners who think this way. They need to move into 2025 or be left in the dust by home Depot and Lowe's. There's a reason why Mom and pop's hardware stores are disappearing it's because they cannot evolve with the times and this hardware stores no different. Evolve or go out of business. Having the $5 minimum policy shows that you guys are already hurting financially so you better work out a new system and evolve or the business will die. Already a huge amount of the Vernon population avoids McAfee hardware and goes to home Depot you would think you'd want to keep your...

Dont know what type of relation he has with the owner but he definitely is bad for business . Only reason why im giving 2 stars i because the guys who helped load it in were kind....
Read moreBeen shopping here for decades now. Always someone to help as soon as you walk in-any advice I’ve been given there has been spot on- the place is deceptively big- not so large that you get lost in the isles- but enough space that they have just about anything that you could possibly need. I would take the experience of shopping here over the big chain stores any day. It’s the quintessential classic hardware store and I’m so glad it’s...
