After hearing about the Canopy Walk at Blacklick Woods Metro Park, I knew that I should make a visit. I grew up in Pickerington, but moved to the London, Ohio area. My Dad used to bring me here when I was in my teens to walk all of the nature trails. We are now around 35 years later and I knew that I needed to check out the Canopy Walk. I have several health problems, so when I found out that this was handicap accessible and offered an elevator, I was thrilled. I was able to make the walk, but there is no way that I could've climbed all of those steps. My congestive heart failure and cancer doesn't allow all of that climbing. It was amazing being high up in the trees, being able to enjoy the birds and all that nature has to offer. I also saw a little boy in a wheelchair and an elderly man walking with his wife and his walker. It is wonderful that you made this handicap accessible for all to enjoy. There is a little place for kids to play and a rope bridge that you can enjoy among "some" of the other things they offer up...
Read moreVisited the Canopy Walk on a weekend and couldn’t believe the amount of people. The trails didn’t look nearly as packed, however. It’s great that there is an elevator, making the walk accessible to more visitors. Looks to be great for families as well. Once up on the canopy, the kid play areas seemed to get the most attention by people. When you get to the canopy level you’ll notice it loops around. The views are a bit obstructed but you can see a nice tree line. We didn’t spend much time up here since it isn’t that long of a walk and the kid areas made it crowded. In hindsight, I think I would’ve enjoyed a nice scenic walk on a trail a lot more than a walk on the canopy. I guess I had my hopes up with thinking it was a longer canopy path. All in all, it seems that it is geared more towards kids and families. Not as much for taking a walk at...
Read moreI have been to Blacklick Woods probably close to 60 times for family reunions, walks, nature, bicycling, roller blading, friends parties, golfing, summer camps, and other activities throughout my life and always enjoyed my visits. Even the restroom placements are ideal. Cook out shelters are almost always available, (reserve sites on memorial or labor day weekends because of availability). Stay on the paths provided and be sure to visit the nature center while there for a undisturbed viewing of nature's animals and birds around the pond or for an air-conditioned break during your nature walk. While inside you can educate yourself or your kids on the various wildlife or fish species found within the park and local area. I cannot wait to take an adventure to traverse this newly added walkway to add to their already extensive pathways of...
