For those looking into the Harry Potter experience held here BEWARE! We live 2 hours away from this event and left work early to make it to our scheduled ticket time. Received a confirmation email the day prior and no indication of cancellation. Website says it will remain open for rain so dress accordingly. No cancellation email or mention of cancellation on the website. An hour and a half into the drive I checked the app and realized the tickets said cancelled. I started an online chat with Fever and was told it was indeed cancelled due to weather. I HAD TO START THE COMMUNICATION TO FIND THIS OUT! We were unable to cancel our hotel reservation due to the late notice. I tried to book the following day (today) so the hotel stay would be worth it but was told because there weren’t enough available tickets this was not possible. I was given a voucher to purchase tickets for another date, however was charged more for these tickets and had to pay the booking fee again! So not only did we pay extra for our tickets but I spent the night in a hotel in a town I would not otherwise visit with my kids. This experience better be worth it in the end. I will absolutely avoid any event booked through Fever in the future. If I was the venue I would look into making this right and/or going with a different...
Read moreThis is a place my wife and I would come so many years ago and have picnics. We chose to get married here, however at that time there was a stipulation we had to have this terrible brewery cater the wedding. The food was SO bad, and I was told I (the groom) couldn't have chicken tenders (my favorite food that no self respecting restaurant can do wrong). The son of one of my groomsmen saved the day by bussing out chicken tenders to everyone. As a park I give it 5 stars. As a marriage venue I give it 4 stars. As a marriage venue with the stipulation I can only use a specific caterer I give it 1 star. Since their relationship with the brewery may have changed since it went out of business, I don't know what I'd rate it, but make sure you have a 12 year old to step up and save the day just in case. Also, they keep sending my wife postage addressing her as Ms. You would think they would have a database for customers who were married there, and address them...
Read moreI have visited Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia two times with my sister, who lives 10 miles away. It is one of my favorite hunt country mansions in the state of Virginia.
The 1,000 acres of woodlands, rolling hills, pastures and formal gardens are beautifully and meticulously maintained by a staff of devoted workers.
Westmoreland Davis, acquired the mansion in 1903, and he and his wife, both avid equestrians, greatly enlarged their home to be the imposing white structure that it is. (Davis was elected the 48th Governor of Virginia in 1918 and he remained in office until 1922. He is buried on the grounds of Morven Park.)
Once you enter the gated entrance, there is a very long driveway, past varieties of trees, shrubs and bucolic green pastures, until several other buildings and eventually Morven Park itself...
