Very nice museum - excellent video about the history of the area during the French and Indian War Era which is pre-Revolutionary. Museum briefly covers the history of the Blue Ridge through the Civil War and then covers each war since then with the focus on the 116th Infantry Regiment known as the Stonewall Brigade. The 116th Infantry is the oldest continuous service regiment in the Virginia National Guard and seventh oldest in the U. S. Army. Museum is mostly military in displays and is small, but its exhibits are professional-looking and well-labelled. There is a small gift shop with patriotic and military pins, books, and some clothing and toys. It takes only about an hour to see and experience. Free admission with donations greatly appreciated. If you enjoy visiting museums, as we do, then this is a good one even though it is not a large one. We have disabilities which limit our walking and standing - The museum gift shop has a few chairs for those who need to sit for a moment which some museums forget to have for those who...

Not the first time this has happened to me, this also happened several years back stopping through on a whim en route from the valley back to Richmond. I get that it's volunteer-operated, but the inconsistent hours is a great way to...
