The falls and the hike are beautiful and kid friendly enough for children 5 and up. I wanted to bring something to anyone's attention that reads this though. My husband, children and I were at our car getting ready to go in, am older Caucasian male, white hair, possibly a small amount of white facial hair, average to bigger build, that appeared to be in office type clothing, came in shortly after us and went into the trails by himself. As we entered maybe 5 minutes after him, he was someone right there, right behind us, and followed us up toward the falls. He was following very closely behind us, almost uncomfortably close and we were on a steep narrow path. As soon as we got off the steep path we booked it, as unsuspiciously as possible, somewhere where we felt safer with our kids. At some point we were able to see this gentlemen down by the falls, making a phone call. Now I don't know what service works in this area but we have Google Fi and had zero service which made this experience even more scary. Luckily we made it around the blue trail safely and back to our car. I'm not sure that I would go hiking here again unless I was "well prepared". Please don't go alone though and watch your surroundings very carefully. I don't know what this mans intentions were, if any, but it was a very weird and...

One heck of a hike, not much for small children. Finding the waterfall is very tricky and although marked, not marked well. You need to take “Main trail” to “old farmhouse trail” and you’ll see an unmarked “block off” made of wood with a broken down electrical box right behind it. Follow that undefined trail and it brings you right to the top of the waterfall. Very beautiful but be very careful if you are not very good with balance or low in experience for hiking. Very beautiful and well worth the 5 miles it took...

Very nice hike. The main trail is easy to get close to the falls. I would rate the last 1/4 mile to the top of the falls as moderate. The trail to the bottom of the falls is marked as difficult. We did not try it. Falls are not much to look at when its been so dry. I was told after a good rain or in the spring it better view. Side trails do not seem to be maintained very well. Trails are not marked very well either. I used Back Country Navigatior XE with US Topographical Maps loaded so I knew...

Well maintained, nice trail with great views and photo opportunities. Google took us to the Kokiwanee Land Trust trailhead, but if you are pressed for time, you can reach the waterfall quicker by parking at the Salamonie Lake Tailwater Fishing Site. This location also has access to the creek (to the right when you pull into the parking lot) which you could take instead of the trail. Either way has so much to offer, including easy access for fishing!
