Falls of Neuse Canoe Launch — Attraction in Wake Forest

Great launch for nonmotorized boats. Plenty of parking. Current take out options in Raleigh are Capital Blvd (on the left where Paddlecreek takes out), Buffalo Rd, Anderson Point or Pool Rd. They are working on putting in a couple more launch areas. Popular tubing spot in the summer. Good for all ages. Wow this place is busy on a weekend! We went to let our son ride his bike some and play in the river! Thankfully we found a parking spot early. It is a great place for kids to ride bikes on a paved trail or play in the slow shallow part of the river. I will say that some of the "serious" bikers are a little aggressive and it could be a tad intimidating for walkers and kids, but everyone was courteous and nice. Easy access to the Greenway and to the water. There is a picnic table, trash cans, and stairs that go down into the water, making it easy to get in and out. Plenty of rocks to sit on in the water. When the dam is at its normal water release amount, the water is about knee high on an adult and not too fast moving, so it is safer for those uncomfortable with swimming.
