Bird Park comes across as an oasis in the middle of busy Boston suburbia with 89 acres of beautiful rolling parkland. Walking the well-maintained paved and dirt paths brings you by open fields, grassy meadows, ponds and stone bridges. A playground and basketball courts and seasonal events like an ice cream social, movie nights and concerts helps make Bird Park an idyllic community gathering place. It's also ideal for cross country skiing in the winter. The Trustees of Reservations -- a nonprofit conservation organization that preserves land, nature, and historic places in Massachusetts -- is to be commended for maintaining and improving the land so well, and for bringing this once-declining park back into its innately picturesque glory. Read moreGreat place to go for a walk. It's not huge, but it's very well maintained. There are many mature trees, lots of wildlife, and some very pretty trails. There is plenty of parking, the paths are wide, and there's a basketball court, tennis court, and playground. There is also a large open field for activities and a stage where events are sometimes held. There's an area with picnic tables and the park has lots of benches and trash bins. Read moreThis is one of Walpole's greatest treasures. This park is almost 90 acres and has several paths. If you don't like the paths, make your own way through the park and find yourself in an open field or in a secluded wooded forested area. They have a fenced in area for kids to play with ride 'em toys, which are kept on the grounds and another fenced in playground for young children. They have plenty of events and so many trees.
