Metropolitan State Hospital — Attraction in Waltham

The history of these important grounds and buildings have been annihilated. Instead they have the single worst dog park in New England. From Wikipedia: "Metropolitan State Hospital was an American public hospital for the mentally ill, on grounds that extended across parts of Waltham, Lexington, and Belmont, Massachusetts. Founded in 1927, it was at one time the largest and most modern facility of its type in Massachusetts.It was closed in January 1992 as a result of the state's cost-cutting policy of closing its mental hospitals and moving patients into private and community-based settings. The main complex of buildings has subsequently been redeveloped into apartments. The hospital campus was listed on the National Register of Historic Places 1994. The property also housed the Gaebler Children's Center for mentally ill youth."

Cool to see the structure as it remains. I've never set foot within and do not intend to. I just wish folks would stop vandalizing. What's the point? Due to all the spray painting and destruction, you know the place will eventually be demolished. If the building were kept safe and intact, this would not be an issue. Besides, as I mentioned in regards to related areas, there should be a plaque acknowledging the history of the landscape, this building, and where the condos are today. Metropolitan State Hospital. SOME info can be found online, but not around here, not in person. Especially for Anna Marie Davee, a patient who died in 1978. If anything, She deserves such acknowledgement. Was a awesome experience and I don't know if there's creepy story behind this asylum? But there's definitely something dark there with 1 the rooms on the first floor. It has a lil closet that looks like where patients would be sent as time out for acting up and there's pentergram on floor of that closet with 666 written on back wall of the closet...!
