This is a very popular campground. It is right on Chequamegon Bay. Views are beautiful. However, it is owned by the city so no reservations. There are about 40 sites all with electricity only. The sites are large, level and open. Just a few scattered trees. The summers are short in Northern Wisconsin so the campgrounds are often full. Be prepared to spend time in the overflow area waiting for a site to open. No electric up there. There is much to do and see in the area, so you have to decide if it's worth the struggle. We have been coming here for 25 years. No real improvements have been made, but since we have an RV, we deal. 3 years later. We still enjoy coming to this campground. It is becoming more difficult to get a site every year. There are a lot of seasonal sites, so only about 20 are available to drive in campers. There have been very few improvements made, but so far, everything is functional. With very few rules, we have noticed that some sites have become storage areas with as many as 6 vehicles in one site. It looks cluttered, and some sites...

What a great campground on Lake Superior! We stayed on site 33 (a pull thru) which is the 3rd row from the lake, but still has lake views. There is a bathroom/shower house which is coincidentally operated (we didn’t use their showers) which had 2 shower stalls. There is a bench outside the showers with separate curtains for each stall, but no place in the shower area to set your shampoo/soap, etc. The campsites are nicely spaced, with gravel driveways & grass/trees. The artisan well is very busy so you may want to consider that when choosing your site. The premium sites ($45 each) along the lakefront are very roomy. There’s a pavilion next to the lake, and benches/picnic tables scattered around. There are various exercise machines outside not far from the campground (by boat launch) and several beach areas. Cost per night is $35 (electric only), but there’s potable water & a dump station available. It is so beautiful looking at the lake & at night you can see lights...

No reservations; first come, first served. So if you want a spot, get there before everyone else (or send someone a night or two ahead to pitch a tent, secure a spot, & start gaze at night until you get there). LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!! It's RIGHT ON LAKE SUPERIOR Chequamegon Bay, with artesian well water, a small beautiful beach, electrical hookups, Wi-Fi (!), and -- after Labor Day -- nobody's brats (except on the weekends) because they're in school all day. It's just retired & older adults RVing, & you. The water gets as still as glass some evenings. The star gazing! And did I mention Artesian well water? For free?? This is the water bottled in plastic bottles & sold to people who can't stand the tap water where they live... like here in Chicago, lol. It's truly a gorgeous little gem. Maybe it's a little worn, maybe it needs a little TLC... But if they don't update & upgrade everything, maybe the hordes will stay away, & it will stay a nice little gem, a...

Great place to park your camper or motorhome. There are spots with a view of the lake, and the grounds are well maintained. There's no water hookup so you'll need to bring your own. They do have a natural running well on site and multiple water spigots. There's no sewer hookup but there is a dump station. There is a nice little beach and playground for kids on site as well as a boat launch. Lots are 27 bucks a night unless you have the waterfront view which is 35 a night. Keep in mind that it is cash or check only, and there is no office to contact, there is a camp host on site. The most issues you will have is grabbing a spot once one opens, as you can't reserve any ahead of time it's first come first serve. The spots seem to get filled in as fast as they are opened up.

It's very nice park which was made even better because we got a lake view site (for more money but worth it). There is a lake walk which is great. Maintenance comes around often to mow and clean. The negatives are seasonal people are allowed to do and have whatever they want which makes for very messy cluttered sites. They also claim lots of area for themselves taking away from others. There are seasonal sites that people don't even occupy all summer but leave a camper on so no one gets to enjoy them. And forget about the camp host; never saw them in the three weeks we were there. They don't do anything for a free site I guess. We love the area and the artesian well but this park is going down hill each year.
