My restaurant always buys from here ever since 2009- 11 years. Today I was very disappointed. In the 11 years I've been here, every time I needed cases of produce, they always had people go in to retrieve them for me.
However, today when I asked for a bag of red onions, no one agreed to retrieve them for me- telling me to pay first. I'm aware of this recent new rule of paying first, but after the times I went through with it, I found that for the produce I paid for, some items were not too fresh. The quality was not to our standards , and I had to wait in a long line for a refund.
Because we are constantly busy and in a rush while buying produce, it is truly frustrating every time I have to wait in line for a refund of unsatisfactory produce. In the past, I've been able to check my produce prior to paying, but today the employees refused to retrieve the produce for me. I'm a regular customer here for years; many employees know me well, but today an employee told me "I don't care who you are, you have to pay first." This was very disappointing to hear, as if they didn't care about me as a customer at all. Over the years I've felt that we've become like friends, but their service today was very unfriendly.
I will be ordering more produce from my food company for delivery. Unless we are in urgent shortage of a particular produce, we will return- but not in many cases like the past. We will just be acquiring small bags instead for...
Read moreSeven years ago, I traded boxed mac & cheese for lobster thermidor and never looked back. With that shift came an overhaul in how I shopped for ingredients, and honestly, I expected Verchio’s to fall into the same trap as Produce Junction—cheap but perishable within 30 hours. Turns out, I was wrong. Their produce doesn’t last forever (no store-bought stuff does), but it’s about as fresh as you can get without picking it from the farm yourself. And the prices? Remarkable. Even with the nationwide food cost insanity, they’ve only risen proportionally, which feels almost merciful. Their fresh herb prices in particular make me feel like I’m getting away with something. The overall experience, though, is a mix of bliss and chaos. Staff are friendly, the place is kept impressively clean and organized despite the shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, and the deli counter—though an exercise in patience—cranks out sandwiches that are flat-out worth the wait. Parking, on the other hand, is a nightmare. Their limited hours are annoying but expected, and the no-bags policy means you’ll be wrestling boxes instead. Still, quirks aside, Verchio’s has earned a permanent spot in my rotation. It’s one of those rare produce outlets that doesn’t just meet my heightened standards, it actually holds up...
Read moreNot a pleasant experience, next time I’ll save my money and go elsewhere. Waited 20 mins to be acknowledged while they yap behind the counter. There were other upset customers who I over heard say I’ll go to Walmart next time! Very unprofessional deli workers, one in particular who shrugs her shoulders at customers, and surely doesn’t have customer service skills. She was wearing a filthy jersey, and kept touching her face while dealing with food, and wasn’t even wearing a mask at that, eww gross! She was acting as if she owns the place. Probably the reason why she works at a deli in her 40s! No one wants that type of person working in their establishment. Don’t be so desperate for workers due to the pandemic, that you sacrifice your customers happiness, because we’re the ones that pay your bills! Word of mouth, and the way you treat your customers is everything! The only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because, Tom apologized but it wasn’t sincere, as he made excuses for her. Kate at the register was very pleasant and helpful. I still won’t be back, and I’ll be telling my friends, and family not to shop...
