Such a gem! It's very scenic and rustic, and a quiet place to unwind. Be warned, the heritage island trail is more of a well worn path. That being said, it's awesome! At some points you are right up on the water and feel very secluded. I would recommend hiking boots or sturdy shoes. I dropped it one star only bc when you get to Kingman island it's hard to tell where the trail for that one begins, and the pedestrian entrance is always closed, preventing you from doing a loop from the main entrance, crossing both islands, exiting at the pedestrian entrance, and walking along Benning back to the main entrance. Doesn't matter though. My four legged buddies love to go every time, and I enjoy every moment of sharing it with them! We go often....
